I'm trying to use a different map than those often use in (real time) strategy games, but when I was looking around on the Map Development threads, people were talking about how some maps don't work well with strategy. How can I identify those bad maps? Does anybody have an idea for a good map I could use?
Decent or good 1v1 strategy maps tend to be around 80-150 territories. A couple may be acceptable if higher for example Poland. The bonuse size's are normally between 3-7.
We'll known and well played strategy maps tend to include choke points, not too inter-connected. A range of different sized bonuses and good layout of those bonuses.
I disagree Belgian. It's a great map, but it's too big and the bonus values are unbalanced and super-bonuses aren't generally used. Also one side of the map seems to have stolen all the choke-points, so it doesn't suite the type of play we're talking about.
The well-known Europe and Medium Earth maps are very popular but these optimized versions better for strategic games I think. http://warlight.net/Map?ID=14319 http://warlight.net/Map?ID=7361
