What do you guys think of the Season 6 Settings? For those of you who haven't read the blog, it is basically the same settings as Strategic 1v1 except for one major difference...it is automatic distribution instead of manual. Everyone also gets one more blockade card to start the game and there are no wastelands.
I personally like this idea as I think it will help the people who don't like picking but enjoy playing the actual game. I also think the style will be completely different from Strategic 1v1 due to the fact that it will be harder to guess where your opponents are. The only thing I'm worried about is that one or two top players might not have a chance to win due to bad luck on starts in numerous games. However, this also makes this season more wide open, giving lower level players a chance against top players. I think it should be a fun season though and you can definitely sign me up for it :)

I slightly disagree and therefore don't like it much. To me, picking is an essential part of competitive playing; casual auto-pick games can be played as regular games while the ladder should stay as competitive as possible. I also strongly believe that the auto-pick will determine the winner more so than self-picking would.
Nothing we can change so let's just play and wait for the next season.

I think this season will be a lot more fun for people who would rate below 1600 on the normal ladder, so for that reason I don't think it's a terrible choice. That said, I agree with Doggy that the ladders are meant to be competitive, and at the highest levels of competition, the auto picks will decide most, and perhaps nearly all, games.
I hope I am wrong about that, but I guess we'll see.

I think most players will get auto positions bad enough that no matter what they do, they can't get #1 on the ladder simply because the winner of the season will have results that are impossible to match. In addition, there's a lot of coinflips about where you guess your opponent to be which will be crucial. But as long as people don't care much about the final ranking, I think these games can be a lot of fun.

After all, one is not obligated to join and since it's only a season and not the real ladder we're talking about, I don't mind it too much.

Mine and HMS's game could have easily gone either way...But he had a 6v4 fail and I had a 9v6 succeed on Turn 3. Just the 16% luck. Autodistribution did not play a big role in our game at all...Just regular 16% luck.
Good game though HMS. I've only got 19 wins to go :p

As always, the lack of originality in seasonal ladder settings leaves me quite disappointed.
We already got the standard 1v1 ladder and the 2v2 ladder for the mediumearthaholics. Warlight features almost 600 maps now, I really fail to see the reason why 4 out of 6 seasons so far now had to be on Medium Earth?
And, lo and behold, after last seasons radical shocker - zero luck - now we got auto-distribution instead.
Wow.
Genius.
So when do we get a multi attack season?
How about extra armies for territories?
How about completely different card settings for a change?
How about something _new_?
Warlight has so much potential, but by restricting the seasonal ladder to only the very slightest variations from the otherwise ever same settings you are pissing all over it :-(
/end of rant
Ladder settings aside, I really apreciate your work, Fizzer.

A 1v1v1 ladder would be fun as well, please add that to my wish list :-)

1v1v1 ladder would be fun
it would, but it would also eb much harder to defien the settings and to end the games.
im not inlove with the settings, but i will play it.
In the regular settings the initial picks r quite decisive, but u have a saying in what ahppens. In these settings u cant even decide on one of the major factors for the game.
Anyway, i dont think it will allow weak players to be in the top 10, a some seam to be implying, it will be easier for average players (like myself) to go closer to the top, r directly to the bottom

Those are simple statistics that aren't accurate at all. In reality, every game is another chance and so it could very well be that you win or lose 100% of games by picks.
Nevertheless, after a few turns playing, I don't mind the season. I quite like it. There will be a lot of complaining and this 15/15/70 percentages are just made up to make it more appealing (which Fizzer also says in the last sentence).
Let's just have some fun :)

Diabolicus i think the lack of other maps for the ladder is because only a few maps in warlight work for a totally balanced 1v1 as well as medium earth perhaps if more maps were map targeted just for 1v1 like medium earth you might find more maps on the seasonal ladder.

If you want a truly balanced map, go for the ninja one with 100% attk/def rate. :D
