Occasionally when I sort my games I see a "delete game" button next to a game. This is on active games (already started). The button disappears when I try to click on it. Is there a way to delete an active game from the "my games list"? A game I am no longer playing or were invited to but declined.

it's like a small white box near the game name in the list of MyGames

You click on it, and it disappears.

My bet is that it was a feature(now removed) in the original version of the game, or it requires some special rights to access it.

Though it does no harm apparently.

however for over 2 years I never clicked it because I feared it would delete the game i was playing(auto surrender or something)
then lately it appeared in a chat game and i took the risk of clicking it.

I think it would be of good use.

For instance, say you get invited to a 30 player diplomacy game and decline. Now you have to see the 100+ lines of chat messages typical of those kind of games. I know I can filter my games to not include chat messages, but I like to keep those included in my game list.

I have seen it occasionally for years. Never tried clicking it for fear I would actually delete the game.

I'd love to have it as an option.

I have seen it lots of times when I was not a member. I didn't report it because I lacked an accurate way of reproducing it.

If that button appears on the multi-player tab, it's a bug. You can click it -- it won't do anything.

The reason the button exists at all is for single-player. If you look at the Saved Games page, you'll see the games bear a striking resemblance to the mutli-player My Games page. These use the same control internally. And for single-player games, there's a Delete Game button that deletes the saved game.
