i'm in a 1V1 tournament game and we are picking territories and the other player has not taken their turn in 3 days. the other player did not mention any reason why they would not take turns for awile. I don't want to seem like a douchebag but i dont want to hold the tournament up either. any thoughts on booting etiquette in this situation?

I think you should boot. Just because, its their fault for joining the tournament so its their fault if they don't make their moves/picks. I would say, if he notified you that he'll be gone for a bit then i would hold off on the boot. But in this scenario I personally would boot.

I hate it when people whine about getting booted.

wait until your 2nd round match is finished. your going to be waiting for that to be done regardless.

I wouldn't go that far, but I do agree that booting and more specifically the fact that everyone has a different attitude to it is this game's biggest problem.
Personally, I think that auto-boot should always be on, unless both players agree to make a game "no boot". That way everyone is on a level playing field and nobody can complain because somebody else booted them when they shouldn't have. It would remove having to worry about etiquette, it would cut down on the cheaters and most importantly it would remove the uncertainty.
Just my 2 cents.

to me, warlight is a pure strategy game and time should only be used to aid game progress. it shouldn't play a part in determining the outcome of a game. some situations will arise from time to time but it should be kept to a minimum.
there can be a place for the players who just want speed through games, but it is certainly not in multi day games. imo, it shouldn't be a part of 5+ min games either. reserve the 2 min games for the speed players. they have no business playing in anything longer if thats what they want
i completely disagree with auto boot. whats the point? in a 5/10 game, if players want to boot, they will boot at 5, 6 or 7 anyway. auto boot doesn't deter booting at all, but it does end games for computer freezes, bathroom breaks and short term memory loss. to me, the only point of autoboot is to relieve any payers from the guilt on making that decision (guilt, a very rare feeling here).
ex: "nobody can complain because somebody else booted them when they shouldn't have."
normal boot time are what we pay attention to. that's the leveler here. i really dont see how auto boot fulfills any purpose other than a guilt defense

100% agree. there should be 2 lobbys here. strategic and fast arcade. maybe a IQ filter to separate the two ;p

btw, there really needs to be a % of games player has booted another stat. i think that would make a world of difference and save this great game for me

Personally, I wish there was a way to set that the game creator could be the only one with the right to boot. I like to be lenient on time, but a no boot setting results in never ending games. Like all things, this could be abused though. I guess I could set up my games with the vote option as coming first and this would be the solution for me. Maybe people should try setting the vote as the shortest boot time and that way at least you will have consensus. It always has seemed odd that the vote comes after the individual boot in the default settings. Wouldn't the other way make more sense. Has anyone ever had a vote to boot?

There is no VTB in the autogames. And yes I've seen plenty of VTBs and VTEs.

I thought the autogenerated games have VTB set to Never. The one's I play do.
