Forgive me if these already exist or it has been asked before, but it occurs to me that survival need not be the only criteria for victory: For some maps it makes sense to have objectives that must be met ... capital or other cities or specific territories that must be held by the owner and captured by the opponent, irrespective of current strength or distribution of armies. Another thought is the idea of supply: you must have continuous lines of control from supply points (capital city, major city, port city, etc.) or armies attrit over time. That would make the game a bit more realistic but not change its basic character.

Local Deployment covers the supply idea.

That being said, in my opinion LD was a very nice addition to WL and different ways to win certently would be another good addition. For now, however, it is possible to work around this by playing with trustworthy players and agree on a goal. (Hold Capital for 5 turns, etc.)

You can do the former with some clever manipulation of bonuses if you're the map creator.

Agreed that Local Deployment comes close to the idea of supply ... I like to play with LD, very few others seem to ...
