I have recently played and lost this game against Octavianus (or whatever his name is).

I failed to notice the importance of not losing my foot in china, and even after losing it i failed to invest hard to wipe him off from Scandinavia in return even though now looking back it all indicates that i actually could have pulled it off. Could i be pregnant or was this all bad picks?

Here is a prime example, all I want to do is cluster Europe, but people don't let me.
Would picking Scan as a 1st help? I need to learn how to cluster Europe.

@DX Dragon: Here's some beginner advice on just picks.

You should never start for a big bonus. The territories/bonuses like Europe worth 5 or 6 armies may look tempting, but it is far wiser to pick the smaller bonuses like Scandanavia or West Africa first (3 or 4 armies) and then conquer the big bonuses later in the game.

NEVER CLUSTER PICK. Try to spread out your picks. its complicated to explain why, but you should always just do it.

Also pick 6 starts, no matter what.

Dear Ps,

This was not a case of bad picks and you had an advantage after turn 0. South America (SA) was very safe and your first 2 turns should simply have been taking it. Always aim to get a bonus by the end of turn 2.

If you eliminate an opponent from one of his starting bonuses it is very often a game winner. It gives you freedom to finish your own bonus and expand into the opponents empty one without having to fight many neutrals. On turn 5 you should have expected his attack and moved into shaanxi first move. This allows him South East Asia (SEA) if he wants it, but stops you from being eliminated. It also allows you to focus all your armies on eliminating him in Scandinavia. You are quite right, this is when the game turned into an uphill struggle for you, but all was not lost.

Turn 6 and 7 you should have known eliminating him was your only option because you cannot out expand him and you knew his income was only 9. Don't complete bonuses right next to your opponent, they usually get broken before you generate the income it cost to capture them, and it forces you to play defensively.

I can confirm you are pregnant and excellent news, it's a healthy baby girl!

what is the proper proportion of chiles per two avocados for the perfect guacamole? if i don't use enough, it tastes too bland, and too much and it's too spicy. can never get it just right!

@billy walsh: for chiles use fifty times the mass of the 2 avocados. (So for example, if your avocados weigh 100g in total, use 5kg of chile and mix together.)

Then shove it down your throat in one massive gulp. :)

By the way he is not good at all in cluster picking... (He knows what I mean D:)

Ah, the old triple-pick. I strongly recommend you don't use them despite the fact that people win with them all the time. Mainly because they don't let you practice your picking skills, and they will lead to losses much more often than wins against good players. I doubt purple anticipated the triple pick, he just wanted a piece of that sweet Scandinavian action.


However, if you just enjoy using them to mess about, but still want to win once in a while here are a few pointers.
1. rank the attractive bonuses highest.
2. make sure you triple pick a bonus you could get in the first turn with a bit of luck OR something large you will definitely get by the end of the 2nd turn.
3. make sure your other 2 picks are attractive bonuses, dont forget you will have to expand into these fast.
4. ideally a back up plan, so your picks will still be decent if you dont get either your 2nd or 3rd

@ billy, I am a chef, and that is the kind of question I get asked all the time by my friends mums... Obviously all chilies have different amounts of capsaicin and I would recommend you put the seeds and white filament (the hottest parts) aside and brunoise the flesh. Then add the seeds and filament a little at a time until it is to your taste. Don't forget salt.
