Question about CreateGame API: 2012-12-11 18:55:06

Hi Fizzer,
I've got a little question about CreateGame API.

CLOT blog announcement says:
"The player creating a CLOT must be a WarLight member, but there are no restrictions on who can join and play in it."

However, there's a note about CreateGame's limitation:
"Member-only features (such as custom scenarios, luck levels below 75%, etc.) can only be used in games created by the Create Game API if all players being invited to the game are members (or otherwise have access to the feature, such as if they made the map that's in use.)"

Is this limitation present when creating a game from template, like Strategic 1v1?

Right now, yes, this limitation still applies to Strategic 1v1 for non-members. This has to be done otherwise someone could make an identical copy of the 1v1 ladder and invite non-members.

However, I do plan to relax this restriction in a future update, but I'm not ready to announce the details yet :)

So to clarify, for now at least:

If we use CLOT to set up a tournament or ladder, and wish to invite non-members, we can only use settings that a non-member could make a game with?

Essentially, yes.

However, it's also worth noting that it's done on a game-by-game basis (WarLight doesn't have a concept of your tournament or ladder -- it just sees the individual games.)

So any game that invites non-members can't use non-member features. Again there's going to be a way in the future to use things like low luck levels in this case, but I'm not ready to announce the details yet.
