Ok, so i've cancelled my map over, over, and over, and questions always come. This time, i'm thinking about map size (Bytes) and detail of the map. I want a detailed map with a small size (bytes). Lines have small size, meanwhile curves have detail.


Ok, lets begin with the pro and cons in my opinion...



Lines:

+1) Smaller (bytes)
+2) Easier to control
-3) Less detail
-4) Not smooth



Curves:

+1) More detail
+2) Smooth
-3) Too large (bytes)
-4) Too difficult to control

Another con for curves is that what they appear in WarLight is never exactly how you drew them. Most of the times it is unnoticeable, but sometimes in can cause gaps of overlaps, or circles that are not perfectly round. That's why I prefer lines on borders, but curves on coastlines.

Well, i also thought the same, because a single path of line has more nodes than curves, but, when curve is used to cut off path, the nodes multiply like hell!

I would prefer both curves and lines. and if you dont exaggerate the shape of the curved territories, they are not so hard to handle.

most of those nodes arent needed for keeping the polygon in shape, so you can easily erase most of them.

I prefer my women with curves.

I also prefer my women with curves. That's why I got one.

Back on topic, personally, I prefer lines in terms of looks. Curves always feel too unnatural to me, and if you already have a natural looking layout for your borders (particularly coastal), then I think it's fine.

I like those curves...for warlight I used curves but now I use a bit of both.
