Can somebody give me a good example/explanation of when it's good to take scan/greenland when it's not for a scan ftb? Also what's the most efficient way of acquiring the bonuses?

If picking territory of greenland is inside of greenland ( not corners) and if you can use extras of scandinavia bonus for taking the territory which is connected to scandinavia you can pick there. I think i have some games to show. Now i am using app. When i sign in with my pc i will try to find.

Greenland is safer than Scandinavia because of it is harder to defend Scan because of West Russia and Europe unlike Greenland because opponents rarely pick UK or somewhere in British Columbia. Svallbard can be easily intercepted because it is so small.

Greenland is indeed probably a "safer" bonus than Scan, but Scan is much easier to get faster, especially with a double-pick. Also, I hope you didn't actually mean that the physical size of a territory has any significance...?

I've used GL/Scan combined with a counter to a FTB many times. It's very effective against average players to get safe income and counter the FTB they will inetvitably go for.

If Greenland is obviously attractive, then it is very hard to defend it from counters (multiple unconnected borders). However, Scand is broken more often because it a)is picked more often and b)Russia is picked more often.
