Remember to keep in mind that only about 90% of Americans identify as Democrats or Republicans, so 45% is where the 50% line effectively is if we're talking Republicans vs. Democrats.
But this measures vote share ... self-identification is irrelevant. & I'm not sure what the point of your third graph is at all.
