I would like to make a new topic on Uservoice, but I'm not sure what a good solution to this problem would be, so I've come here to solicit ideas.
The problem is in creating teams for team-based tournaments. I want to be able to join tournaments with people I know and work well with. I want to avoid random people joining my team and then getting booted from every game or [insert other thing that bad teammates do here]. The only good way to make a team with people you know is to create the tournament and get your entire team together before sending out general invites. If you get an invite to an already existing tournament, the chances that you will be able to get a full team together drops significantly, and is nearly zero if any of your preferred players are not on the site frequently.
I don't think that being able to reserve spots is a good solution, because that could allow individuals to stall tournaments.
One possible solution is to have full teams queue together, and not allow individuals to queue without a team. That naturally deters or inhibits individuals from ever joining tournaments with teams.
What other options do we have that allow teams to consistently form when they want to, without preventing people from joining tournaments if they want to queue alone?

Fixing the invites...
1) Invite w/pre-req's: Make it sot that only the host can invite someone that doesn't meet the host's pre-req's. Anyone else is free to invite anyone they wish as long as the open seat pre-req's for that person are met.
2) Limit Invite Chains: If Host invites A, B, and C, then they can each invite their friends 1, 2, and 3... however, 1, 2, 3 cannot further invite any more people until the host opens invitations. Now, invites can spread like a virus and good seats fill up with not good players quickly.
3) Limited Time Reservations: Reservations only last for 24 hours (maybe make reservations a member feature?), or make it so that reserved spots can be filled if there are no more open spots available.
4) Game Create style Invite List: The tournament invite screen could have the same interface as the Game Create screen.

faster way to achieve this is to code your own CLOT and have the folks who join do a checklist of who they wouldnt mind partnering up with.
