when should double picks be taken? should they?
what to do in case of 2 or even 3 double pick options? (not counting wasteland ones of course)?
what about 2 double pick options around a +3 bonus which make it sabotageable?
discuss (:
i almost always go for the double pick, and usually it works out
is the 80% worth it?
1. when you want
2. shouldn't they?
3. pick the ones you like, if you want them
4. (of course)
5. sabotagization is what the game is all about, if you want
6. 80% is relative. it's a passing grade in school, a great winning percentage in sports, and an excellent return on an investment; but it is not good when talking about one's chances of surviving a life-threatening disease
let's all discuss here on this very notable thread.
Well an example of a triple in central america lets say, East US pick is in Florida.
You don't want to take it, but you don't want to give it away either.
So you pick the South america pick number 1, since it is a good bonus, your 2 and 3 elsewhere on the map in a nice place. your 4th pick in central america in case you miss your south america pick, and then 5 in East Us in case they combo south and central and get them off you. then you pick your 6th in another good isolated place.
The only way this finishes badly is if they get central america and one of your 2 and 3 if your 2 and 3 are next to each other. It will mean you are left with say a 2nd pick countered by your 3rd, and your 1st and 5th are countered by youtr 4th and they have a safe 6th.
I can tell you straight away that there is NO one rule that defines when and where to double pick. It's all situational.
But I do think that the first two things to consider, when you are deciding on a double pick, are:
1) Can I get an expanding advantage, say, a bonus of three on the first turn.
2) Is the double pick easily counterable, and how?
If the latter is true, you might choose the counteraction yourself.
Okay, I think I got this, sometimes the only reason you need to double pick somewhere is to block your opponent from double picking there. Because sometimes the double pick location dominates the map so much that the player who gets it likely wins. So you should pick it and be ready for the likely scenario of one player getting the 1 and the other 2. If not, you should win if you play good, gg.
Also, games are much more fun when there is a combo, because it means that there will either be an early fight, or you get an early bonus so game is quick :D
Also, if you look at this match i jus tsatarted in lolowut's tourny. There is nearly every single combo you can ever think of. It is paradise for combo pickers! :D
