Resources like rubber and tin are abundant in southeast Asia, while large regions like middle east and the big countries have lots of oil. There are economic hubs like Singapore and ShangHai. There could also be religions bonuses like Buddhism and Islam.

I'll give it a shot. First thing I need is a good way of dividing Russia. For example, the Sakha Republic is too big to be a territory, and it's divisions (33 districts) are too small. I could simply split it in 4 territories, but those would be called Northeastern ~, northwestern ~ etc. Maybe I should name them after the biggest cities in them?
