I have decided to make a map similar to Ted Riley's newest map; Spartan Battle Arena. I have already asked Ted if it was okay and he said it was. I did not put any bonuses in it, and it came out like this;

The problem with any map with no bonuses is that there's no way to get ahead of the pack.*

Killing neutrals would waste armies, so the best thing to do is to stay still. Forever. Even if defensive kill rate is 0%, you're losing one army that you left behind.

Thus either it's luck as to who gets first move (ATK Kill Rate is much higher than DEF Kill Rate) or no one moves and there's no winner (ATK Kill Rate is lower/equal to DEF Kill Rate). The standard is the latter, so...

*Exceptions: Reinforcement card, extra armies per territory.

if i wanted to play without bonuses i would just change the settings of a common map and set the bonuses at 0.

Just find a map you like, set the bonuses to 0.

Other cards are exceptions too, for example sanc card (both negative and positive)- and if the kill rates are messed up OP card can be very Important too.

Army-cap could make games like this move on too- but you`ll need more than it alone for it to have any impact.

I agree with your main point though- maps should have bonuses.
