It is practically impossible for 40 players to participate every day for whole season.
This applies to TSFH as much as it does to Hodopian Dynasty or anyone else.
The 40-cap is per season not per day. The first 40 TSFH players to join
any time slot in a Clan War season are the only TSFH players allowed to compete that season. TSFH will also run into the limitations of one group of 40 players not being available every day.
To prevent older clans from from collecting new members to take advantage of non-participant rewards, implement the following policy on clans that no new members can join when clan members are greater than 80.
It would really really suck if the solution to this non-problem were Fizzer nerfing existing clans. We paid $15 for clans that didn't come with caps; per the TOS and whatnot, Fizzer's well within his rights to alter the deal (and we pray he would not alter it any further) but it would still really suck if he did. I mean, it'd add a question mark to future purchases on the site if what you bought could be changed up on you and made far inferior to what it is that you had in mind. It'd be like paying for Netflix but the company could unilaterally change its terms and say you can only watch shows for 2 hours a day max. Once the precedent gets established, it wouldn't make sense to pay for Netflix anymore because the company could just as readily decide your limit is now 30 minutes, without any recourse on your end. It would undermine the credibility of the product so much.
If you're worried about equality here, here's a radical, untested idea that has never been tried in the history of clans or clan competition on this site:
remove the 40 cap for clan membership. If the 40 cap is so necessary for Clan Wars to function properly, then it makes no sense to grandfather existing clans in (wouldn't that be gamebreaking?). So clearly it's not a game-breaking thing because it's okay if clans have only a subset of their members participate in Clan Wars, or else it would've been imposed retroactively too. Players who want to participate but can't because they're too late can simply move to other clans for that season or forever. I don't really see why new clans as a whole had to be handicapped just because Clan Wars have a 40-cap. It only complicates things, because clans that are 40-capped will run into new logistical issues for Clan Wars unless they can get 100% participation (while grandfathered clans won't). In short, I think this was a questionable game design decision that should've at least been deferred until after an
actual problem emerged because odds are that we'll see the grandfathered clans (the vast majority of clans at present) organically deal with the Clan Wars 40-cap during the first real season.
