What happens if you complete a map without finishing a dig site? Does the digging still occur in real time and you somehow receive a notification? Does it impact any future digs? I am new to the Idle scene and I am one territory away from map completion but only a third of the way through a dig.

Apologies to the community, but I feel like I still don't have a definitive answer on this even after doing my own research. Any help answering this is greatly appreciated. I imagine I won't be the last one who has this question unless there is a better Idle guide out there (other than in-game info, forum posts, and Fizzer's blog).

the dig will continue even if you finish. it's a good tactic, to start your last dig right before you complete a level.

Probably a bit late for you but perhaps for future reference: While you play a level, the digging is shown under the advancement-tab. When you finish a level and a digging is still on-going, the digging will still be under the same tab even in the next level, such that:
- you can see when it is done and you can start the next digging
- you can see what you will get once it is done (rarity of the artifact)
- whether the active digging is from the current map or the previous one (don't know if this is relevant for someone but still, you can see this detail)
