It's true; I have been a member (or a player anyway - not sure when I joined as a member) here for over 10 years now I believe (11 years maybe), but that's not the reason why I prefer Warlight or WarLight if that's the "proper" spelling. I think it's a really intriguing name that is quite mysterious, nonobvious, and much more appealing to the ear than "Warzone." "Warzone" sounds - well, like something a big video game maker would call an FPS or similar sort of product. :)

I still refer to it as Warlight among friends and I joined in 2017. Warzone felt too generic even before this whole Call of Duty nonsense.

In the event of the worst, how's "WarMap" sound? It gives you a better idea of what the game is about than any of the other options.

@aerial Assault, do you remember the thread where fizzer announced the name change and asked the community to make a logo? oh that was (and still is) a very entertaining read.

@zealous... I like the name warmap, but changing is not so simple. that would require the logo to be (at least slightly) changed, the apps to be majorly changed to show warmap instead of warzone everywhere, is warmap.com available?, are there other games named warmap?, and probably countless other things I don't know about. plus, fizzers business name is warzone LLC, so there's tax information, city and state ordinances to deal with, the list goes on. he has spent a shit ton of time setting everything up under the name warzone, and changing the name is not a small thing to undertake.

Yeah, that didn't go quite as planned. :(

I tried spreading the word by speaking to some large-ish tech and games websites and uploading it to their news queues. Unfortunately, every single one of them refused the story and ended up not posting anything about it, even though in the past week several of them had a few news stories about the activision warzone game. I figured it was quite related to that. I guess they have their reasons for not being interested.

fizzer had achieved the top result before Activision took it (and basically the rest of the page) for themselves.
"we'd definitely fix it" is what he's doing right now by fighting them. he has the law and us on his side, Activision has money and more money on their side.

Activision just wants to intimidate small fish and claim this domain name for free, or even steal some money from Randy. It's as simple as that. Technically Fizzer could settle this in his favor by agreeing to sell the domain for a fortune to them and then change the name either back to Warlight. as I, and a lot of other players still call it, or find another name.

I guess fighting for the - let's face it - right thing, which is "get off my lawn" and keeping Fizzer's game intact. regardless of how difficult or not the case is - may be econommically unreasonable, and may sink not only this game but the man himself.. :/
