Season XLIII is drawing to a close, so it is time to talk about Season XLIV. This season will be a bit unique, in that we are not going to be voting on the template. Instead we have decided that in an attempt to introduce more casual players to the strategic community we are going to play Season XLIV on
Small Earth 1 Wasteland (

In addition, for the first time Fizzer will show all eligible users a notification pop-up informing them about the seasonal ladder and showing them how to join. I'm very excited about this, as I expect it to result in potentially the largest seasonal ladder ever!
I know Small Earth is a highly polarizing template, and that some of you will be disappointed with this choice, but I believe the benefits to the strategic community of advertising the seasonal ladder more widely in this fashion could be immense.
Finally, I'd like to head off any fears that this marks the end of our community voting for future seasonal templates. This plan was entirely my idea, which I proposed to Fizzer who graciously agreed to implement the notifications.
The template for Season XLV will be voted on by the community in manner that we are accustomed to.
