I don't know much about "Diplomacy" games, but the first segment of the This American Life podcast was very entertaining:

@ace did you only listen to the prologue? i should have said it's the first two sections.

I listened to the whole thing now. I kinda want to play the game :D Better played with a few Ahols having drinks because holy shit the people at those tournaments are way too intense.

It was impressive how well the diplomat's skills transferred to the game.

It is a fun game. I recommend it if you haven't tried it :)
