It's sad but all good things must come to an end.
As you already know, Game #3 of this challenge was created a month ago and at first, Phobos refused to join it. He was then asked to join repeatedly but in the end, he declined the game on July 13th.
Officially, Phobos' excuse is retirement. But it looks an awful lot like he got scared of Nauz and ran away. Speaking for the Warzone community at large, I have to say that Phobos' cowardly decision has been a real disappointment. We all wanted the challenge to be played until the very last game and while we figured that it might be cut short, we never expected Phobos to be the one responsible for it. We all thought Phobos was better than that.
But here we are, Phobos fled and forfeited. Which means it's time to end this challenge and announce that Nauz is the official winner.
Congratulations to him, he put his coins where his mouth is by joining, playing and winning those 2 games. In the end, he managed to scare Phobos away and prove once and for all that he is the superior Strat MME player. He picks better than Phobos and he plays better than Phobos.
To be honest, I wasn't expecting that result, because Nauz never got a 1v1 Ladder trophy while Phobos did. But now that Nauz's superiority has been demonstrated, I can't help but question the circumstances under which Phobos acquired his trophy. This is looking very suspicious, someone should probably investigate the matter.
Anyway, I'd like to thank all the Pick Rating Panelists (DrApe, Jeff, krunx, Ralph) for their hard work on rating both players' picks. Hopefully, their keen insight will help Phobos become a better player when he suddenly decides to unretire in a few months. And who knows, perhaps it can also help Nauz get that 1v1 Ladder trophy on his next run.
And I say goodbye to all of you, in the hope that one day I can come back and offer you another challenge that will surpass the Phobos vs Nauz hype.
