Every group has an internal 1vs1 RR and they play 3 2vs2 games, each game worth 1 point (6 points total). Top 2 advance the tiebreaker being 1vs1 game result. After round 1 is finished I will announce new draws and templates. I remind you that templates for round 1 are strategic 1vs1 with 0% luck weighted round and guiroma 2vs2 with 0% luck straight round.

Holy hell, dat tier 1. I want to play that RR.

I get lob, surely one of the strongest tier 2 and ryan/warlightvet who are certified giant killers. ='(

as Miyagi said earlier, i could fill a spot and at least be competitive with most of the players in tier 3

All 2vs2 games have been created. Boot times are 3 days direct, 5 days auto. Since all 2vs2 games are played simultaneously you don't need to play very fast, but I'd ask for you to join as soon as possible not to stall the tournament (there is no force-join outside of tournament structure). I will update the status of results at least once a week.
IMPORTANT RULE: To prevent confusion there will be NO substitute games. Once you join, the game result will be final regardless of boots.

- Who are your favourites?
- Who are "black horses"?

I'll make my predictions:
Group A: I think anyone could win, although my best guess would be Gnuffone.
Group B: Dead piggy or Lobstrsotiy will win this one, should be a very intersting game between the two of them.
Group C: I think anyone in this group could win, but dreuj and dunga are my favorites in that one.
Group D: I think Heyheuhei has got to be considered the favorite here, but I think Yoshi or Red could surprise him and end up winning it.
Group E: Luxis is defintely my favorite in this one, with Frankdeslimste being a definite second.
Group F: I would predict Myhand or Chaos or JUPITER, i think all would have a decent chance.
Group G: I would say Timinator has to be considered the favorite but I think Widzisz definitely has a shot at winning it.
Group H: Strong Group, Zibik and Brisk will fight for first while Featherbucket could upset them and Falker could surprise as well.

I hope JSA doesn't mind me copying his post and editing. ;) I'm to lazy to write from scratch, but turns out, we got a bit different points of view on some of the standings..

A:

Very strong team, my two favourites here are [WM]Gnuffone and 13Chris37, with an underdog of Niko waiting in the shadows.. Dodo would need some luck here, but he does surprise strong players from time to time. Gnu is my bet for #1 because he improved a lot in recent weeks, and seems to progress even further.

B:
1. Dead piggy, 2. Lobstrosity, 3. Warlightvet, 4. Ryan
In my opinion it's one of two most unbalanced groups: i don't believe Ryan nor Warlightvet have any reasonable chance of winning this group, but with enough effort and focus one of them could take #2 and progress to next round. Good luck!

C:
1. Dunga, 2. Dreuj, 3. Summer, 4. Warlight Master
Totally disagree on everyone being able to win this one. In my opinion it's the second most unbalanced group. I think dunga is the definite favourite here, but with his recent inactivity, he might end up getting booted. In that case, SummerSadness would be my guess for #2

D:
1. Heyheuhei, 2. Red, 3. Yoshi, 4. NoobSchool
Unlike JSA, I find this group very close - everyone of those players is very good, and every one of them has different play style, so this could end up being the most interesting to watch..

E:
1. Luxis, 2. Frankdeslimste, 3. Ineffable, 4. Military Maniac
agree on JSA's opinion here: Luxis is defintely my favorite in this one, with Frankdeslimste being a definite second.

F:
1. Myhand, 2. JUPITER, 3. Chaos
I'm a bit upset you did not even mention me here, but i agree I'm gonna have some hard time beating the other players. Challenge accepted. I'm not going to include me in the predictions whatsoever and am sure Myhand is the definite favourite.

G:
1. Timinator, 2. Widzisz, 3/4. JSA/X
Timinator is in great form, so i believe he's most likely to take the first place, but still very strong player - Widzisz, after a long break might take the championship of this group, if only he had time to "warm up" and not lost his skills during the absence. Both JSA and X are underdogs here, they might surprise many, but i don't think they will reach the 1/2

H:
1. Zibik, 2. Featherbucket, 3. Brisk, 4. Falker
Zibik, being one of the "legends" of warlight has some pressure on him, but still he's got three very good players on the ring, so this group will definitely be worth following.


I believe in Gnuffone as the underdog capable and very determined to win this competition and I hope he does. If not him, then probably one of the three: hhh, myhand, timi - depending who will care about it, and who will have enough luck, cause when focussed all of them are extremely good players. Some of the others considered top players might be simply not flexible enough to push the wins regardless of templates used in the following rounds. For sure this league will be one of the most interesting events in warlight.

As I said before, Tigger, no one likes an overdog.

comments: gnuff is most focused and gnuff > chris in rome. lobsterman seems less focused lately and warflow seems to be the better 2v2 player. red's style might be well suited for the luck settings in 1v1s. chaos prefers the luck settings and bettter understands how it influences the game. myhand won't finish all his games. brisk > feather in 2v2s.

oh yeah: military is my dark horse. i like his style for the luck settings and for rome.
