is there a tool/tip/trick to easily have territories with different bonuses to get that clean separation? mine all overlap. or is it possible that I dont have to worry about overlapping borders, and can leave it as is?

heres the map im making for reference http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=36340

thanks

I do it by clicking on the line (not the vertex) and it selects the two adjacent vertices. Then hold shift and repeat until you have the portion you want to move all selected. Drag the line(s) at the same time. It will be much more uniform than moving individual vertices one at a time, and faster.

I know you can use offset as well, but that is really only good for bonuses that are a single territory because offset is all lines in the polygon (you can offset that single territory inward).

I'd love to hear better ways if there are some.

There are a bunch of tutorials for this on the Map Development Forum. Try searching them out.

Start with dividing your map in bonus area's with the splitting method, after that you have to select each area seperately and do Ctrl+( which makes them a littlebit smaller. After that you can use the split method for making your territories (for the result see Benelux map).

Draw a bonus line over the map outline. Click the line and press Ctrl Alt C. Then click on the bonus and outline together and press Ctrl (or shift, I can't remember) with - .
Without going off of it, press Ctrl shift K which will seperate the new bonuses. Now you have the bonus separated, you can add territories inside normally. This method I use all the time, but the lines can't be to messy.

Those are great tips. If you offset the bonuses before making the territories that would be much smoother.
