Ive been playing warlight for a few month's and have noticed clans around and what are the benefits of them apart from getting to know and becoming friends with the other clan members ?

-You can play together and get better.
-You can help eachother improve.
-You know them better and know who you can rely on.
-You`ll almost never be alone in Tournaments and join with other clanmembers.
-You can test your strengt in Clan tournaments and get to know the other clans.
-You might find other games where your clan is active on (REGL is active on more sites)
-You can get into games more easily since your clanmates might mention you.
-You play with more players and be more know because of clan activities.
-You can get a certain status ([WM], apex, ReLight and such suggest you are a good player. REGL and CPU and such suggest you are average or a bit better, but very friendly most of the time (CPU is a bit better I think)

There are others but everyone is different and they find different things with different clans. I suggest you find a clan and ask them what their attractions are.

Tbh im not really looking for a clan at the moment , i found warlight from armorgames and since then been dumping all my spare time and as of late ive been trying to improve my game .

Ive met a few people that i play with nearly every night on the same team and none are clan memebers either and the atmosphere is nice .

Some good points but apart from maybe learning more i dont see any other real advantages .

It's a personal choice for people what they want. Alliances are something similar to student federations when going to study at a university.
People can be happy without them when going through their years at the university, but for others it just gives them that sense of familiarity and organization they can not find on their own.
Where singularly nothing is organized a larger organization (like a clan/alliance) might well achieve that.

It's up to singular members to decide what they want and find important.

Some are more upper class (twit) like WM,Apex and Relite in that they set prerequistes on members who want to join while others are just happy to get new members.

It all depends on what someone wants.

cogo, no one said anything about clans being the ONLY way to meet nice people and get better and other advantages, they just help :)

cogo - it ALL depends on which clan you choose. I personally think elitist clans are the best choice you can make, and in my opinion you should not be in a hurry with picking the right clan for you - sometimes it's better to wait a few months and improve your individual skill, get to know people from different clans and decide IF you want to join, and if yes, then WHICH clan suits YOU the most. I hope Min34 will not mind me using his post, as it will be very useful to show my point of view on different aspects:

-You can play together and get better.

You not only can, but you will naturally play more games with guys from this clan simply because you will start to recognize clanmates by the tag and of course they will recognize you as well. With that in mind you will be more eager to join each other in different games. Getting better is questionable - depends on your natural predispositions, highly depends on what clan you are in (with all due respect to Arun, despite your clan's activity i still doubt anyone improved significantly by playing {warlighters} only.. On the other hand i heard rumors from inside one of the top elitist clans, that they expect you to be good on joining, but do not give you any helping hand to improve later in the clan. ) <-- i can sum this up by saying: It is extremely important to choose a good moment to join a clan (you will "feel" you are ready) and even more important to know WHAT clan would you like to join. For that you have to at least know the pros and cons of each clan, or at least know some general opinion about them, and know people from inside it, and of course you need to like to play with them (and vice versa). I was very fortunate to join WM, i personally think i was not ready for it back then, but guys from inside the clan helped me a lot to improve later on. You might be not that fortunate if you choose badly.

Of course you can help, and i highly encourage everyone to help other players play better, but this is not always the case on either side - some people just don't want to be helped and take that as an offense, and some clans are not much willing to help as they assume, you are good enough on join..

True - but usually in time you craft your opinion on every clan even if you are not part of it. Furthermore: there are elitist clans
which accept only players on certain level of skill, or based on some other strict criteria like WM, apex, WG, ReLite etc.. but there are also clans with lower standards, or almost no standards at all, in which case you would not find them any more reliable.. Again - it all depends which clan you join.

Again - that may be an advantage, or quite the opposite depending on whether you are in a clan with high standards or not. And you can achieve the same thing without joining any clan whatsoever - People like Timinator, Heyheuhei, Myhandisonfire, SalahAdDin, and lots of others are widely recognized because of their solid skill. Sometimes it is better to be clanless, because random players usually do not recognize the top players which are not in clans, but they recognize clans, and sometimes it is difficult to make a team of more than 2 people from WM, apex, ReLite etc, because often people you don't want to play with join your team, because they heard your clan is good, and they want to play with you :) <-- one of the few disadvantages of an elitist clan..

True, but depends if the clan does such tournaments in the first place. Most clans do, but some as far as i know don't for a number of reasons. Still, they play a lot of games in-clan, so you may treat is as a substitute, but again - you can join other tournaments even when you are not in any clan, so you can "test" yourself without joining a clan as well..

I don't know about that. WM is a warlight-only clan, and while there were clanmates inviting to other games, it's not a general rule here. For sure if REGLs are multi-game clan this is a big advantage of them (still depends on which players play which games but it's a nice feature)

Yup - after joining a clan, expect much more invites to games and expect invites to tournaments you want to play and/or from players who want to play with you - not only invites sent automatically to whole load of random others :)

-You play with more players and be more know because of clan activities.

Again depends on the clan you join, and is achievable without one.

hmm Yeah - and you can either gain "prestige" (WM, apex etc...) or even lose a lot of respect ({lighter}, FFP <- does anyone even remember hellybelly?)

I would add one thing Min34 missed - there are some regional clans like the "chinese symbols" clan, or [BR] - so it joining an apropriate clan for your location, you may get to know more people from your area, and possibly make some real life friends :)

PS: Min34 - i am disappointed your last claim suggests WMs are not friendly or at least less than cpus or regls.. :(

As for GeneralArun's DOTTED thoughts, 1) more competition - usually yes, but depends on what clan you join. 2) Chances to learn more - i already replied to this 3) Nice atmosphere - It's soooo much subjective, and in the end it leads to what i wrote at the very beginning - you have to play some games with your potential future clanmates first, and then decide which clan suits you best..

Benefits of being in a clan: you're already in a clan, so you don't even have to attempt to read that last post.

sorry for doublepost. The site crashed for me and after i clicked post again, it turned out the first attempt to post was succesful, even despite the crash :/

cogo - the question about prerequisites is not applicable to the top clans i think. Usually those clans will not consider at all, and automatically reject any player below 50% 1v1 2v2 3v3 and some decent number of games played (500?) but it doesnt mean that by meeting those you will get in. There are many players who pumped up their statistics, and have around 90% winrate in 1v1 2v2 3v3 and more than 3000 games played, but would not be accepted to WM, nor other elitist clans.. Most if not all the clans now have the prerequisite fro bootrate - you will not get in if you have (wild guess) 10%, maybe more, maybe less depending on the clan.. but generally winrate + bootrate + amount of games played is the first thing the clans look at, then it's opinion about yourself, then are the recruitment games (in some clans you have to win those, in other you may lose, but have to prove in them that you know how to play)

and finally - it's very good that you ask all those questions before being really interested in joining any clan. saves you from disappointment after potential wrong choice, and makes you better informed and prepared for the future in case you change your mind.. :) good luck and have fun on warlight!

Since the topic is open i want to ask more questions as it seems you guys dont mind answering.

Does this game offer a secret forum for clans to maybe use to discuss different topics with clan memebers or are you guys using off site forums for this ?

Maybe no one is even using forums but then how do you communicate to clan members and get them to like joing games and stuff as i thing just sending invited to clan tournaments or invites to random games is a bit pointless to be in a clan unless something holding them together.

cogo - the topic was brought many times, but there is no such tool on warlight yet. the clans use chat-games or tournaments where all clanmates, or a division of a clan is invited to - not to play it, but to chat in it.. it sort of has to be enough for the time being.. some clans on the other hand use third party forums, communicators like skype or msn, or their own sites but i am not sure how succesful that is. I know regl and old #elite! used that.. We definitely lack such built-in system in warlight which would make it possible to interact more, make clan-only forums, and make official clantags restricted or recognize ranks for different access/authorisation levels in clans etc.. but Fizzer (warlight's creator) is working hard on improving this site, and lots of things are implemented over time - maybe soon we will have those as well.
