Are there (m)any large skype chats that Warlight players have made which aren't specifically for members of their specific clans?

I rather enjoy the social aspect of gaming, but doubt the clans I'd want to join would accept me as a member (I'm not awful, but I'm also a very large step below most of the [WM]/Apex members in terms of skill - only members of either clan that I "might" be able to beat close to 50% of the time at s1v1 would be Nord or Fridge I imagine.) so am curious about the presence of chats that would appeal to someone that liked socializing with their fellow players, but didn't want to have to commit to a specific clan to join them (I dislike the concept of joining a clan with the intention of switching to another clan later when able to, plus I imagine most clans probably prefer recruiting people that don't repeatedly "clan hop".).

http://warlight.net/ChatInfo

When it first came out it was quite busy for a few months, then players slowly quit showing up in the chat. There isn't really much interest in it.

Yeah, I've seen that, it's always empty, was why I wondered about skype-based chats.

sorry to break it to you but i doubt you could break 25% win rate with either of those players if they were motivated :P

Good question. I don't know of any skype chats that aren't affiliated with a clan, but if you generate enough interest you could start one.

@WLV:
I doubt that. I'm not saying I'm as good as those two by any means, but I'm quite sure I could win over 25%.

I have lost most of my recent ladder games on this account, but 9 of the last 10 opponents assigned to me were 1800+ rating, and 6 of those 9 were 1900+.

Nord has lost 9 of his last 10 ladder matches where his opponents were rated higher than 1800. I've won 2 of the 7 matches I've completed against 1800+ opponents, and I believe I have the game in progress against Azazel won as well.

This account's winrate is low, but it's because it has primarily played against good players, and its 38 wins include 15 or so wins against people who are or have been 1800+ ratings on the 1v1 ladder (or who likely would be if they were members, such as hedja).

Not claiming to be fantastic, but I will definitely claim to be a good bit better than I was when we last played each other.

When I originally took a run at the ladder I peaked at 1650 during the 15 game provisional period and peaked at 1599 after it. This time I peaked at 1812 thus far, and am likely to be 1700+ after my first 15 games are completed.

Haven't you already used Scorched Earth as well though? This is your third account to join the ladder, right?

Omniscient you telling people the names of your other accounts as well then?

Also, to my knowledge, not that many clans use skype to speak between each other. WG use a tournament as a chat, VIW uses large 50+ chat games (where you invite then un-invite, so they can still talk, and you can invite more people) and REGL has it's own website.

Also didn't Fizzer create that special WL game where the skype faces of each player came up on warlight? You could play people with that I think, it is one of his blogs.

Yeah, our clan doesn't have a Skype chat. We use a website and a chat game here on WarLight.

I'm STILL wating for a damn clan tool to manage clans, to manage applying people and leaving people, to see who is online and last but not least to chat/Send messagges to clan memebers. Who knows how many other year we'll have to wait..

Personally, I don't think a clan system would be needed here. Our clan operates well as it is.

Not sure if that is a joke or not. Arun, if fizzer introduced clan systems where you can easily chat with your clan-mates, have a separate invite list for them, make interclan tournies so you only get paired up with the other team, a RR for example where you don't play your own clan instead of making it by hand, it would help everyone.
The only question is how easy is it for Fizzer to do this. It probably wouldn't be easy, because of all the complications and different clan things available, also so many people ave asked eh would've changed it by now.

As for clan-messages, i 'm assuming that that will get fixed together with the friends-list and all (aka a small overhaul/implementation of messages)
I dunno about skype-chat, and i 'm afraid to say that "i 'd be interested in joining it" since we already have the warlight-chat, spreading chatters out over more chat-rooms would likely make all the chatrooms go empty and decrease interest in them.

I don't think you can spread that chat any thinner. It has iNoob, LotR and Wredi in it always, and no one else.

What I mean is, a clan system being made would probably not be as good as what we do at the moment. There is so much to do. Some clans have different tags within themselves, some have tags in different parts of the name, with different brackets/symbols. Some are organised differently, and operate differently. Some are a lot more social then others. I see no way Fizzer can do this pleasing all clans (as should be the case if something is made). Also, I think a lot more troll clans would be made if there was to be an official clan function. These most-likely single man clans would then spam clan tournaments.

Take EVERY FPS-RPG like games and check their clan fucntion. There is nothing better than the possibility to manage your clan. Also, a clan tax should be BEFORE the name, but i belive that requires nothing than a script to allow the clan creator to decide where to place the tag, before or after, like something you have to chose before you create it.

In the end, making the possibility to create clan members only we avoid the troll thing.
