With all due respect CROivan, but why is Dutch more important than Polish? I can understand English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Arabic and maybe even Hindi being more "important" than others. but comparing the number of polish players to dutch-speaking, i would say my mothertongue is at least of the same importance as dutch. I would dare to say Polish and Italian would be two of the most important for warlight because of how many italian and polish players are there. Hindi on the other hand though used by a great number of people, surprisingly seems not to be that important for warlight, since i don't think there are as many players from that region.

And I also would like to volunteer to translate Warlight into Polish. Having Warlight's interface and tutorials translated into different languages by native speakers would be great.

Yeah, Silly Green Men is correct. Though languages like Hindi and Spanish are spoken a lot more worldwide than languages such as Polish, but the number of Polish players vastly outnumbers the Spanish. As of yet I only know of 3 other native Spanish speakers, not saying there aren't more who stick to real-time games though.
Also how is Dutch more important than Polish? Less people speak Dutch natively, and there are many less Dutch players than Polish players, not taking into account that basically all Dutch people speak English very well.

Hedja - on the other hand people in France or Spain often speak only their native language, while in countries like Poland vast majority speaks english at least to some extent, so maybe introducing for example Arabic, Chinese, Turkish and Hindi would bring more new players to warlight. Players who don't know english that well... and i think there is a great potential..

I don`t know how many Polish players we have on this site, but we have at least 51 Dutch players that I know about (so there will probably be more)so it is not a small group. On the other hand, almost everyone of us speaks English good enough to play this without Dutch translation.

actually polish shouldnt be consdered as a priority as most of the players from poland already play here even if warlight isnt in polish, we should ask why are there so few spanish speaking players, perhaps because they cant read english well enough

very few people in spain speak english compared to france-
(or england or the usa, but that's irrelevant)
-i think it should be a priority :P

Spanish (and French?) seems to be the most important one.

Well Spanish people aren't very good at English, but most know at least some. I think it is just most Spanish people don't play on sites Warlight is on, so not many play :)

why not do a survey to answer all this questions, a sample size using the forum.

it doesn't matter tbh, if it's going to be translated to one language and people are willing to do it then it's easy to translate if to every language desired if i'm not mistaken

It might be a lot of effort for fizzer to translate it into a different language, even with help, that runs alongside the normal servers.

However if people are considering Spanish to be one of the most important languages to be translated, I am sure Polakillo will help out as well, he is the only other Spaniard who I know on here.

Translation of interface and other text of warlight is not necessary in the hands of Fizzer only.

Basically Warlight app would have to be modified to support multiple languages with something like input XML files or any other structured form (this is for Fizzer :)

Then translation of those language files to different languages can be handled solely by translator.

Then some basic testing if the language file is not corrupted anfd warlight will be able to process it (Fizzer)

Then testing of correct displaying of texts (translator or someone else or players)

So more languages means more work mostly for translators. Of course after that support for multiple languages is implemented into Warlight.

gettext > everything > XML.

Really, if this gets some kind of approval from Fizzer, I'm up to translating it to Polish.

Yes, I was wrong... I ment that, Netherlands had many colonies in the past, so I thought that Dutch has more speakers than Polish... but still, Polish has more speakers... Also, as I see from this thread, there are many Poles, so that language would be first translated.

I agree with you Ku Klux Klan - European languages should be the first to translate, because they are not spoken only in Europe, but in both Americas, half of Africa, Australia and Oceania and some parts of Asia (closely, probably 70% of the world), but if someone wants to translate on his/her native language, why not?

Again, visit http://warlight.uservoice.com/forums/77051-warlight-features/suggestions/2335790-internationalization and give this idea 3 votes so it could get to Fizzer!

The netherlands indeed had colonies, but I don't think that the amount of people with a PC in Suriname and Indonesia will outnumber the amount of people with a PC in Poland.
