Up till now i have seen about 5 maps that totally rely on luck to star. No skill required, just luck and basic playing skills. Then I hit this piece of work.

https://www.warzone.com/SinglePlayer?Level=1231031

This could be a great map if it were to have proper settings.

Isn't it a bit lazy to place a 21 to star on a map that has 6 enemy AI spread out over a huge area that requires 4 or more turns to get your first bonus of a measly 3 or 4 units?

If your lucky you may hit one or two enemy AI before turn 10, real lucky 3, but by then the others are so spread out you couldn't stand a chance of a star.

At minimum there should be no fog so you can determine if you even have a chance at a star.

I know its possible to star it but surely you can do better than this. What a waste of a good map.

Edit:
Kill first enemy by turn 1. First bonus turn 8. WHOPPEEE, 7 units to deploy turn 9. Pathetic.

Kill first enemy by turn 3. First bonus turn 6. 10 units to deploy turn 7. I wonder how long it took someone to come up with this idea for these settings, maybe 30 seconds? This is toddler territory were talking about here.

Even if all AI deploy within 7 territories of your starting positions you cant star. It takes to much time to build up enough units to locate and destroy them. Some of them never even move from their original territory. My best engagement is 3 of 6 enemy by turn 14.

Surrendering reveals you could never of won the star anyway. If you don't see all 6 by turn 8 Id wager you cannot star ever.

I wonder what the star ratio to games played is. You have more of a chance of winning the lottery id wager.

There should be no fog with this map considering its not possible to star every game.

Proof positive that this map is as close to impossible to star as can be just happened.

Turn 3, wiped enemy 1.

Turn 5 engaged enemy 2.

Turn 13 engaged enemy 3 and enemy 4.

Turn 16 wiped enemy 2. Engaged enemy 5 and 6.

Surrendered at 21 revealing never had a chance to get to the farthest enemy territory during the entire game and was only able to deploy 9 units a turn at turn 21 anyway. Tops was 13 units.

Farthest enemy unit was still 7 territories away and happily eating multiple territories at a turn.

This map needs to be modified to allow for a star. Current settings are to out of whack.

Make sure to rate the map and put a review there as well.

Here are a few tips if you wish to lose more of your time trying to get the gold star:
1) The individual snowflakes give you +1 army/ turn. These are by far the best bonuses on the map. You can reset the map until you get an acceptable spawn.
2) You can take 3 neutral by attacking with 1 army then (either net turn or from different territory this turn) with 3 armies. That should help you complete bonuses faster
3) Make sure that you are able to get to any territory on the map before turn 21. Completing bonuses is nice, but coverage is the most important thing if you are going for the star.

Thanks for tips.

I rated 1 star pretty quickly as it becomes obvious real quick this map needs adjustment on the settings.

Small snowflake spawns are very rare so far. 1 in maybe 50 restarts. Just got my first one. Good position on reaching the common big snowflakes but still 17 from the small upper left snowflake.

That's what makes this laughable. You will never reach that unless all you do is move towards it and never bonus. Any spawn in that area will be always unreachable within 21 turns.

Any suggestions on when to restart?

For example, I am at turn 10, only found 1 enemy spawn, have 12 bonus and reinforcement card.

Seems like at this point its a waste of effort to continue.

Edit: Which it was as surrender shows two out of 3 spawns wouldn't even make contact with the enemy until way past turn 21.

Edit: Restarted until had 2 out of 3 spawns facing a enemy spawn at turn 1. Game over by turn 3. No chance to star.

Since this map is from 2012, never been fixed, and there are at least 5 others I have ran into with similar problems, I am going to file 13 this gaming site.

There are other sites like this one so I see no reason to waste anymore time here. This is the only one I so far know you can't star but the others are just as terrible in their own way.

The diameter of the map is ~30 turns. So unless you get very unlucky spawns, you should be able to get 1 or 2 bonuses before having to move towards the borders of the map. Plus moving towards the borders cost you ~6 armies/ turn, which should still give you space to expand/ kill enemies elsewhere.

This is probably the best active Warzone player. You may want to ask him for some advice: https://www.warzone.com/Discussion/SendMail?PlayerID=620001

Also, this person has all golden stars (except from the tutorial): https://www.warzone.com/Profile?p=816809922, proving that the star is possible.

I rated 1 star pretty quickly as it becomes obvious real quick this map needs adjustment on the settings.

A map is not a template (collection of settings) is not a single-player level.

You rated the map 1 star because of issues with the single-player level. The creator of the map has no control over the single-player level that's causing you trouble. There is unfortunately no way to rate a single-player level; the "Rate Map" request you get on finishing the level is for rating the map, not the single-player level.

Please rate the map based on the quality of the map (or just don't rate it). There's been an influx of poor map ratings for years because the game creator has not bothered to make this distinction clear to players. Mapmakers put a lot of time into creating their maps! They shouldn't get flooded with 1-star ratings because someone else created a difficult single-player level on their map!

Kallisti, stop trolling and baiting people into tanking map ratings.

I merely think that players' feedback should be heard. Fizzer claims that nobody cares for Single-Player. That is no true. Map reviews are the only way how to prove him wrong and allow players to tell what they think about the level and about Single-Player; don't take them away. You will get rid of the voice of Single-Player players. You will completely cut off one whole player-base.
