Note about playtesting:
You should first test your template with AI/ in an open game, THEN ask people for playtesting. This should prevent testers from wasting time in garbage/ broken settings (sorry if this sounds offensive to you, but unless you stick to creating almost exact copies of existing templates, you will produce garbage/ broken settings. The best way how to figure out there is something wrong with the settings is by playing it)


Common problems you can filter out yourself without playtesters:
-> Your template creates too self-similar games. Usually on small, symmetric maps. This makes the game too much about predicting your opponent. You can sometimes solve this with wastelands or make the map less symmetric by overriding bonuses.
-> Your template makes games that take too many turns. Usually on big maps. You can sometimes solve this by making the map smaller by overriding bonuses in such way that few selected areas are more powerful than the rest of map (see https://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=30391456)
