I now see 26 undefeated players with 3 games or more that have been won. Interesting start to the season. Timinator dropped two games to two very talented players (dwoogee, Flyingbender) who both also lost to a previously unranked player. Szeweningen has solidified his #1 ranking with 3 good wins already, the most out of any of the undefeated players. Jackie Treehorn and master Adrianokx are both guys to keep an eye on; both beat very skilled players who would have likely been in the top 10 if they had not been upset by Jackie and Adrianokx.

The game Szeweningen mentioned is very entertaining. Excellent play down the stretch from Yves.

I know I've been playing this a while now but sometimes the ranking systems are so confusing. How is taisho above teddy right now? Is it purely unlucky that teddy has only played low ranked players? Or is there a way to maximise your chances of playing higher ranked players?

Oh yeah. What does the star mean next to some players in your list?

On observing the seasonal ladder(for 1.5 seasons), I believe the rating system awards points based on a number of factors.

Some which I'm almost certain of:
- Number of games you are currently active in.
- the rating of players you have beaten.
- the number of days you have been on the ladder.(I know this because I was keeping pace with most players with similar records, but had to leave the ladder for a few days and have now fallen behind)
- the date you join the ladder(which ties in with the above point as well)

Teddy is behind because he joined this season a bit late.

To maximize your chances of playing higher rated players, you must join early, win your initial games and stay on the ladder.

There is a star next to alts and accounts that are being played by another player. NoobSchool has not been on warlight in the last couple months; someone else is playing his games currently.

And yeah, it's a big disadvantage if you face poor players early in the seasonal, or if you play a good player who then drops out very soon afterwards. I think Ottoman Emperor had the best record one season, but because he joined late, he ended up outside of the top 10.

As far i remember Widzisz won all 20 games, but because he joined lately, his opponent's were quite weak and he was low in the final ranking.
However,

That's not true.
Seasonal work almost the some way like 1v1 and 2v2, the one and only difference is that you get 65 points for every* finished games. And that's why ranking looks flawed during the game - finishing game make your rating better - even if you lose.
Also note, that your opponents bonus points didn't count toward your rating - it's better to win against someone who played 5 games and won all of them than someone who played 20 games and lost all of them(despite the later one's rating will be higher). This is because the rating caluclation looks that way:
1. Calculate the ELO rating for all games (as for 1v1 ladder)
2. Apply bonuses points for finsished games

In this case i'm not so sure, but from my observations i would say bonus points didn't matter. So: finish your wins quickly and drag your losses. Can't think about anything besides that.

I have joined this season before it started and never left. Still undefeated, 7-0, but very unlucky with my opponents. Only player who had a decent rating and chances for better (niko) dropped ladder immediately after i beated him. Think i am the lowest ranked player who is still undefeated...

Its as if those guys at the top know something we don't when it comes to getting match ups.

I'm not really sure what I'm doing to get me good matchups. In the beginning, I guess just finish your games relatively quickly, don't lose, and hope you get lucky? Then once you start getting good matchups maybe delay your play to avoid lowering your rating, continuing to get good matchups?

It's also possible matchups are determined before the number-of-games-not-yet-played penalty comes into play. How else would #16 get paired with #3/4/5?

In the end I try not to think about how the ladder works too much :P

Something that makes this competition even more intersting is that 3 seasons ago, GG did the best in Guiroma. 2 seasons ago was Poland and Lynx dominated. Last season, WG won on no-split mode. So in the past four(including this one) seasons, these clans have performed the best.

Looking at Yves' playing speed, he has already lost 3 games, he just doesn't surrender.

I hope my clan mates can keep it up. I am languishing in the 70s, so I cannot help them there.
