I like it from strategic point of view. This same idea is not limited to team games, I don't see a reason why 1v1 couldn't use the same mechanic where instead of picking all your territories on T0, you get to pick one territory for 4 first turns or whatever the settings are.

I think just for team games, it is too much game development effort to implement, but if it could be a thing in 1v1 games too, it might be relevant to consider. It won't be the simplest thing to implement whether it is for 1v1 or team games.

Sounds like a cool idea to avoid tripping up your team mates by having starts in the same bonus, and having to Gift or capture territories to complete bonuses in early game.

The idea of mirroring picks often come up in team mates, aiming to support your teammates' picks and protect from the other team(s), but sometimes you just end up stepping on them and breaking apart a bonus to split between teammates. This idea would support a more complementary picking concept and/or having better, informed, cooperative picks.

Next question is ... how to do this? Beg Fizzer to do it? Or beg Dutchman to do it? (mod) lol

But is this too difficult to implement in the existing framework? Off the top of my head, don't know how it could be done in a mod, as Distro is always T0, so it'd likely be an unintuitive UI to make the magic happen, like forcing all players to do picks T0 but ignoring all but one player per team, not being 100% clear which player's picks are "the picks" (without looking at the mod info), then using some mod buttons to do picks for the other teammates... ugly).

And if it's just too difficult, I guess just starting everyone with gift cards is the next best thing. It doesn't give progressive intel on enemy picks, but at least it solves the shared bonus part.

I like this idea. Would be nice if we could play something like this also in 1v1 games using a paratrooper card like where you can pick far territories in other turns.

It sounds kinda cool, but I think it can be very very difficult to balance. - And I think Joi might be right and it could be impossible to mod warzone in such a way. I'd say, ask someone who can mod if something of the sort can be done. It'd be cool to see if it can work, I think if you spend enough time balancing a template, it definitely can be done.

You also have to account for the pick cycle.

Rather than A1 B1 B2 A2 A3 B3 B3 A3 A2 B2 B1 A1 it'd be A1 B1 B1 A1 A2 B2 B2 A2 A3 B3 B3 A3 or you'd have to mod it even further to create A1 B1 B1 A1 B2 A2 A2 B2 A3 B3 B3 A3; this has some implications, though it's hard for me to see what exactly would be the best way to do it without actually seeing games played in such a manner.

it cannot be done with a mod, since WZ elminitates players that dont have any territories

so unless someone makes a map specifically for the mod where there are 4 territories without connection in the corner that you can use to keep everyone alive, its a no go

I told alexs earlier that this cnnot be implemented in the current mod framework. I was wrong. It seems possible, but one needs a template where there are at most as many players in a team as there are territories.

It could also be customizable, e. g. you play MME normally with three picks turn 0, but get to make another pick turn 1 after distribution

Just a heads up, it is possible. In fact, i already made an attempt to create this and although there were some problems i didn't find anything that would make this impossible.

the problem that @JK_3 is pointing out still exists, I avoided this by letting every player pick normally in the distribution turn and then started the turn-by-turn picking.

although it is possible sacrifices have to be made. Mods cannot make territories visible without playing vision cards automatically for a player. this would mean that you either have to play with no / light / dense fog, or make the mod so it plays vision cards to make at least the pickable territories visible (probs a spy card played on neutral, it is way less work and easier to make and to play with)

if this Extended Hybrid Distribution is really something what you guys want i can start developing the mod again, but i must say i have absolutely no idea how much I'll be able to do on modding this summer lol. atm I'm trying to finish a mod before the vacation really starts but i don't even know if I'll manage that tbh

That's the problem though, very few things make it to built-in implementation, and the rest get the "this would be best implemented in a mod" response. Maybe if it got onto UserVoice with lots votes, it might catch some attention.
