I think we can declare registration over with this 32 teams, during this week we can move on with the seeds and later on the brackets.

How are you going to determine seeds? Are you going to do it by yourself or ask a group to do it? The latter seems more fair obviously.

When do we need team lists in?

i wouldnt choose by myself no.

Before we reach the even 32 number, i was thinking about giving seed to norway and brazil because they will play the final at the same time, but that is not necessary if it is not fair.

we will have only 1 seed group or 2 seed groups?

I personally think you, brisk, Timinator, Gnuffone, Widzisz and you 5 can vote on 2 groups of 8 teams. I feel like US Central 1 could be a title contender but of course I'm biased to a degree. I don't think it would be fair if we got Brazil first round though so I think the 2 groups are needed to prevent that.

Netherlands & Flanders 1 got to the semi-finals in the first Nation's cup and got beaten by Brazil by only 1 point, seems a little strange to me that you don't consider them in the first group.
Lesser known names doesn't mean bad players, it may be useful to take the past results into account.

Either way I would go for 4 groups with group 1 vs. group 4 matches and group 2 vs. group 3 matches and then the winners of the former against the winners of the latter.

Wait....I agree with Israel, Norway, Brazil and Poland 1 being in the top seed.

But I've not yet seen the line-up for East us 1,France 1,Germany 1 and Italy 1.
How are these selections actually made ??

I'm not saying Netherlands 1 and 2 should both be in the top tier but certainly Netherlands 1 should be considered for the top 8.
It includes 3 former top 1 ladder leaders and decent other players....

On Italy 1 will play 2 guys called Gnuffone and Beelzebù, should be enough :D

I think that the two things are not related. It took me a long time to make the team, because I talked to a lot.
A prerequisite for play for me was to convince Beelzebub.
Also, I laughed 5 minutes when I read "good player" ;D

Gnuffone, we all know you deem yourself a legend who in his mind deserves to be called more then just a "mere" good player, but so long as I still win more then 1/4th of the games we play together I'll refrain from bowing down to you oke ? :)

I am pretty sure that if we play 1v1 ME i could easily win more then 75%.
Also about "good player", don't speak about me, speak about timi and beelz...aren't 2 only good player, cmon! :)
Anyway this friday (12 july) i have my last exam. After some holiday i should be able to make some challenge to some ppl. ( including you :P )

What about we don't play 1vs1 ME but play 1vs1 season VII mode or 1vs1 Guiroma or 1vs1 something else ?

Usually on challenge we play classic setting we will see.

We could let all team captains rank all teams, then take the average of all those ratings and decide the "top eight" based on that. I mean, we've got an entire week left right, might as well find something to do to pass the time. :p

Oeh, I know! If we assume good players are also good at judging the strength of other players we don't have to settle for the average, we could take the weighed average, that sounds fancy, so it must be accurate!!!111

On a more serious note, how about dividing the 32 participating team into four groups of eight (A, B, C, D). Then we have eight matches between A and B as well as eight matches between C and D (all randomly assigned of course). The winner of each AB is then matched with the winner of each CD.

All teams from the same country get the same letter; this assures they cannot meet in the first two rounds. We simply trust the random generator not to put all the strong teams in one part of the tree. That also means we won't have to argue about it either!

@Math Wolf, i dont want to be the one bring the news, but you brought up wrong information, the final result was 9x4 (it was only real close all the way, all open matches).

@RvW - I prefer to not trust random generator and to use seed. I am a tournament bracket maniac and i assure all you want can be done. To assure team of same nation dont play each other combined with a seeding system is actually simple.
You actually sort out each team and what are the viable bracket for them to be, instaed of sorting one bracket at a time.

For now I think we can have 2 seed groups AND not allow same nations confrontations before semifinal.

Dunga, are you planning on calling all the leaders together to vote? Because with a lot of people voting, it woudl be more accurate I think. Maybe give 2 points to the Tier A teams and 1 point to Tier B teams, and zero to the other 16.
