You mentioned adverts would be necessary to keep WarLight running. These ads would be compulsory for non-members, but optional for members (because you want to see them).

The questions are (I asked them publicly because others may be interested in the answer):

• Does opting to see adverts (members only) generate any extra income for you?
• Does people clicking on the adverts generate any extra income for you?

If the answer is yes to any or both of them, I'm sure many players will help you :)

1 - Yes, pretty much with any service

2 - Depends on the service, if it's Google's adsense then yes, I don't know about others.

* - I know from experience with Google that with their system, you're not allowed to really say much about what revenue you get or from what exactly, so he may never really tell us.

OK thanks for the answers.

Depending on how obtrusive the ads are, I'll most likely opt for them.

There's a lot of different type of ads. Most require that you click on them to generate revenue, but sometimes they generate revenue just by having them appear.

Some even require that you purchase something or sign up for an account or something (but these are pretty rare, and they pay a lot when someone actually does it.)

I plan to experiment with lots of different types of ads and see what works and what doesn't, as long as they're not too annoying or obtrusive.

For members, there will be a new setting under the Settings tab that lets you control which types of ads you see, or just turn them all off completely. So if one type of ad is annoying, you can turn off that one and leave others on.

I'm also going to try doing a section called "Fizzer's Picks" where I link to games that I specifically enjoyed. Part of the goal of this is to give back to games that I really liked myself and help them out. If there's an affiliate program available for that game, I only make money if players buy the other game. If there's no affiliate program I would just do it to help them out and not make anything.

That sounds like a good idea, Fizzer. I'm fairly new to the game, so I'm not sure when I'll get a membership, but I can't wait to support you and this game. I also have a question though. I know adverts can be surpassed by ad-blockers. Are you going to make the site unavailable to people who have those installed, or trust that people turn theirs off for this site (like I plan on doing.)

The game will still be available to people who use ad-block, but I plan to discourage the use of adblockers. I can't reveal exactly how yet, though, since it's related to another 2.0 feature that hasn't been announced yet.

Hmmmm....Could there be a downloadable version of this game in the future? This could be quite interesting!

i think if you use adblock there will be a penalty of some sorts, or a bonus for not using adblock, like being able to create a game with member features

Page checks for Adblock; Checks that you're not a member

true; true = No Multiplayer Page

I doubt that ^^ because "the game will still be available to people who use ad-block".
