Could we get a profile stat that lists how many times you have booted other players?

It would help people like me stay clear of those players if all they do is boot.

Like the player tarpwolf.

In a game of 30 players he booted 16 of them. And that’s how he won the game…

Perhaps this problem could be more easily solved by a "only host can boot" setting.

It might lead to abuse, but in most games the host is one of the most trusted players, so I think this would help more games than it hurts.

That setting sounds great.

If we start making "only XXXX can YYYY" (where in this case XXXX=host, YYYY=boot) we're going to next have to need guidelines on what players/when players are eligible to leverage these settings.

I really don't want to have to wonder "can I trust player ZZZZ with these settings?" when considering joining a game.

Maybe a setting to treat "Boots" like "surrenders must be accepted". so maybe "boots must be accepted by XX% of players" where XX is configurable. 0% = instant boot by any player, 100% = all players must accept, and it pops up each turn like the surrender dialog.

The real problem is players not making their moves and/or time controls that don't align the type of game.

In my personal opinion, the best option is autoboot, where booted player turns into AI and can come back multiple times. A diplo mod is necessary to prevent random attacks from the AI.

"Boots must be accepted by XX% of players" can lead to stalling. What if XX%=50% and just over half will not boot a player who ran out of time because they know it would lead to their destruction, or to the victory of another specific player? To put it in a different way - it would lead to "tactical non-booting", which is arguably worse than tactical booting.

I think krinids solution is best.

But yes supi auto boot is good but many games don’t do that. For those that don’t krinids option would be perfect.

Eventually enough players would boot. It would maybe just take a bit more time. Far better then one player booting everyone and winning the game like tarlwolf does.
