If a player cannot play both 2v2 or 3v3, or if we put a lower limit of total games Italy will be out. Was already difficoult in this way, if we put too many limit we cannot play. Some of us don't like some setting or they don't want play more then one game. (For example i play 5v5 but i wouldn't do it).
Also i don't understand why in nation cup 2012 there wasn't problem, and now we are discussing a lot of things.

I still lack to see the problem of one player playing 2 3v3s and 1 5v5, if E played 2 1v1s, a 2v2, 2 3v3s and the 5v5 then I would see the problem, that the country is resting on that one player, but he is only playing 3 games for us, the large team ones. We were told before that 5 players per team was the right number, why have to change it now?

So that would be:

4 1v1= 4 points
2 2v2= 2 points
1 3v3= 2 points
1 5v5= 3 points

11 points total so 6 points for win.

And not allow a player to do multiple slots within the same format.

Does 4 games count the 1v1s as 2? Because then it might be better to change having 2 1v1 players to have 4 1v1 players (or 1 playing 2 and 2 playing 1 match = 3 players). I think that what we have is fine, reducing 3v3 and 2v2 to 1 would also work fine.

I agree with you Hedja/Potato. Clearly you are not riding anyone given your lineup. But it does allow for that possibility right now.

-I think you need to keep Two 1v1 players (playing two games each), because it is a mini RR. I think breaking that up would be complicated.

But then the players playing in the 1v1 wouldn't be allowed to play in the 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5? They would need to drop out of some of the team games?

So instead of what I wrote down before have:

1v1 = 2 A + 2 B
2v2 = 2 CD
3v3 = 1 CDE
4v4 = 1 ABCDE

Gnuff, would you have a problem if we just eliminated a 3v3 and kept 5 game limit?

That means you could still play all formats. It would simply not allow you to play both teams on a 2v2, that would be the only change.

Anyway, it seems odd that we are all debating this without dunga chiming in :)

You wouldn't have to change your lineup at all from before (you'd just eliminate your 2nd 3v3 team of BDE):

4 1v1 = 2 A + 2 B
2 2v2 = 1 AC + 1 BD
2 3v3 = 1 ACE + 1 BDE
1 5v5 = 1 ABCDE

OR, assuming you wanted to stack the deck the most, and A-E was your ranking of players:

4 1v1 = 2 A + 2 B
2 2v2 = 1 AC + 1 BD
1 3v3 = 1 ABC
1 5v5 = 1 ABCDE

Distribution per player:

A-5
B-5
C-3
D-3
E-1

The alternative is to keep both 3v3s and just allow a player to compete in 6 games max, limited to 2 games in 1v1.

My vote is just do the latter (allow 6 game max) because it will have basically no effect on current lineups. Then we can revisit it in season 3 if you want to.

We can have 2 3v3s and each player limited to 5, which is what GB has, I wouldn't see any problem with that, unless someone is adamant they must play in every match that their team is playing.

A limit to 6 games out of the 9 can be worked around. A limit to 5 would likely mean many players having to play games they don't want to play (there are surely 5-10 teams of very active players who have 4-5 players who would like to play as much as they can, but for the other 20-25 teams, it will be annoying).

4 1v1s for 2 people
2 2v2s
2 3v3s
1 5v5

That's 19 slots, so if you have one player who want to stick to one game, the others need to play 5-5-4-4. I don't think that's reasonable.

I also don't see the point of whittling down the number of games to get a lower limit of number of games - doesn't that make the whole lower limit pointless? ("Ok, playing only 5 out of 9 games is too much harder than 6 out of 9, so let's play max 5 out of 7 instead"?)

My vote is to keep the games, I'm fine with either no limit, or a max of 6 games per player.

at this point lowering the number of games isnt appropriate, games already started with 4 1v1, 2 2v2, 2 3v3 and 1 5v5.
This discussion needs to take place earlier.

6 games limit seems very good and dont force players, and its better to increase the number of games than taking games out.

I have no problem with changing/enhancing the format, but this kind of changes will have to be done at NC3.

Its official. The appeal and the fame of the Nations Cup contributed to the come back of one of the WL legends - Zaeban. As far as I know, he is rusty and out of shape, and was reluctant to come back, but eventually he decided to help the friends lacking a player in the team.
So some of you who wanna measure with one of the best WL players or who yearn for a long-time denied revenge soon will have a chance.

After the very close semi-final defeat in the last year edition, the team Serbia (or rather team Balkans) this year is coming back stronger to take the title. If you don't wanna save lives by assign it to us on the green table, than - war it is!

Yeah Dunga is right, trying to change the rules when the first round has started for a few teams is really annoying and quite confusing. Besides trying to make it fewer games is counterproductive, we might as well do a 1v1 and let the winner continue.

WhiteMale,
Nice site, but don't you think it would be better to have such an overview on the wikia? I could see this getting very confusing: it looks like you're the only one who can update it, which is not very practical when you go on vacation or have RL stuff to take care of or something.
