I think this issue has been brought up before. My very first account is perm banned and YAAT is suspended for 'alt accounting'.
It says that violations of the 3 rules will lead to suspension/ban. However, the 3 rules dont include alt accounting. Is my suspension due to me actually breaking the 3 rules i agreed to or because i crossed some invisible line Fizzer has set?
I hope i dont get banned again because of this, but people really should know.
You are allowed to have multiple accounts on WarLight. What you aren't allowed to do is to have two in the same game, unless your opponents explicitly give you permission to.
Gnuffone: I don't know why you try to trick people into risking permanent bans, but my source is Fizzer. Feel free to ask him yourself if you doubt me.
How Fizzer knows about that? Is it like a report system or an IP scan? Because I could be banned for this despite of having only one account but multiple persons using my network.
@Yeon what are you saying???
Many times i/red/sze play with alt on livetourney, one of them with Fizzer online.
Alts account are allowed, i play like 500 3v3 with alt on my team. Piggy and Trillussa did a lo of times too. You are not allowed to use it only if you put one on enemy team, join FFA, troll forum.
If is really not allowed, me and other already receive a warning about it...
There should be something in the TOS clarifying these rules. It doesn't say anything about alternate accounts. It only says you need permission to use someone else's account.
Gnuffone: I just quoted Fizzer! I have no idea whether he was/is aware of your multi account games. They are only rule breaches if your opponent didn't know or didn't agree, if they knowingly agreed then there's no problem. And certainly I have no idea what the punishment is for breaking the rules.
I asked Fizzer because of something that happened a while back, and I wanted to play a game on team with an alt. Fizzer said it was fine provided I had the opponents' permission. Otherwise it goes against the rule of not using multiple accounts in a way that gives me an advantage. So I didn't do it.
I really don't have anything to add to that - that's all I know. I'm just extending a helping hand by sharing that information so that people reading the discussions about alt play etc don't think that people are free to play with alt accounts as they please.
Of course, you can enter the argument that "if I'm not caught, the rule doesn't count" and even "if the authorities know and don't punish me, the rule doesn't count" - but I'm not arguing whether it counts or whether anyone should be punished, I'm just letting people know what the rules are since I took the effort to check.
The problem with that is it is wide open to interpretation. What is an advantage? Lets say a very good player does a 2v2 with multiple accounts against two players. Now lets suppose you sub a bad player in for their alt. Clearly there was an advantage in using an alt, so a violation of rules? Now lets suppose you are a bad player and you use an alt. It might not be an advantage over having another person on your team. Rules violation? IMO, there is too much gray area. When is it an advantage and when is it not?
I think the "without an opponent's permission" needs to be in there as well (as Yeon referred to).
I still maintain that no person should have two accounts on the ladder, period. In a game or in a tournament all parties must be aware and agree.
Either way, I think it could be a little clearer in writing so everyone knows what is allowed or not.
Well. I think play 2v2 or 3v3 with alts is like a challenge. And ofc opponent know who inferno and the gladiators are :/
I play all games with alts only against strong player that know i was using alts.
And i agree at all with cris.
Advantages:
- improved coordination
- more focused strategy
- a challenge (of sorts)
- you gain all the glory for winning!
Disadvantages:
- annoying (going from account to account)
- time consuming (it's easier to tell your teammate what to do and have him be like a secretary punching in the orders)
- annoying (to click that much per turn)
- boring (nobody to talk with)
- more prone to make a mistake or overlook something if you aren't being careful or don't care enough (especially since the game has become so boring, annoying and time consuming)
- easier for enemy to predict your moves/style/approach (in team games styles blend and change move to move based on team chat: sometimes player 1 moves based on his ideas, sometimes based on player 2's input, sometimes based on player 3's input, sometimes based on a mixture of ideas, making the moves less predictable)
- nobody to blame for losing!
If wl 2.0 had a way for one account to play a team game with the same mechanics as current team games, I'd do it. But to play a team game with multiple accounts is not as enjoyable as a team game with teammates, chat, cooperation, frustration, anger, etc. I tried playing on the 2v2 ladder for a while but the games felt like torture. It was not enjoyable at all. Though maybe a more enjoyable template would have made the experience more positive.
Gui, I completely agree. When I played with an alt on the ladder, it just got boring so after 5 games I stopped focusing and trying. That's why I haven't played with alts any more lately. I think that would be one of the best updates in 2.0. These other updates are nice but they don't add to playability at all (if thats a word).
arun, there is a big difference between 1v1 and 2v2 with alts, there was about 3 threads already about htis, YOU HAVE TO SPLIT INCOME BETWEEN PLAYERS AND PLAYERS CAN BE GANGED UP ON, THATS NOT TRUE IN A 1v1
