Yes, I'm arragont at times. But I don't think I am any more arragont that any other player on warlight that uses the forums a lot. If you can find me one very good, very modest player that uses the forums a lot, I'd be stunned.

I feel like arrogance is less of a problem than just being a jerk in general. It's amazing anybody would want to play on your team on warlight, no matter how good you are.

There are lots of players who are good, use the forums, but dont boast. X is a prick but he's not arrogant at all.
I do a lot of tutoring, Jsa. Not all i do on WL is negative Some people hate me, some people like me, as long as some people still like me, i'm cool with that. ;)

I agree with mr pink completely. I would prefer to play people of a similar skill and work upwards. The point of promo reg leagues is the good playes filter to the top and bad to the bottom, like the ladder for the most part. Why just go random? That is the reason you have to play games before being placed on the ladder and not just thrown in randomly.

But how to place people in groups if you can sort them by skills? Not all are Members, not all Members playing Ladder, and winration sucks, so there is no way to do it properly. I think the best choice in this case is create random groups and then split into promo-relegation league (1st place going to group A, 2nd -> B and so on).

Honestly, you could even let people self-assign to groups. Looking at that group I would be in group B or possibly C (assuming groups of 5).

I would also be happy with somebody like General Arun assigning people to groups as he probably knows the players well enough to do that.

I'd rather do random than the seperate tournaments and the top 2 advance to A, next 2 advance to B, etc. Here's my reasoning: If I have to play 4-5 less skilled players to get into A, it's the same as if it was random and I ended up in B and most of the best players were in A.

That's why I won't play unless we do it by voting or a committee...

I agree with Mr Pink. Let everyone pick their tier. If someone wants to start in tier 1 and sucks, well then they are just going to lose all their games. I think everyone can assess were they fall.

Chris, I'm not sure if I agree with letting players pick their own tiers. You might end up with 12 guys in Tier 1 then, and 2 guys in the lowest tier. Imo its better just to vote.

pulsey, you dont know what i think, if the groups are based on skill, its easier to have the few people who have been playing warlight the longest and know everyone to vote on people, because they are the most likely to actually know everyones skill level, i would be happy to have the list that jsa came up with help me to determine peoples skill level if that is the option decided upon

First step is to determine cut off date (when list of players for season 1 becomes final)

Also, a good idea might be to post an open tournament letting people know about this thread. Lots of players never check the forums
