I think it is safe to say now that WL 2.0 was a complete let down. All I see now is noobs creating pointless games just to level up. Then the noobs will say "whats wrong with wanting to level up and unlock new features?" Nothing except that you are not earning your levels honorably, duel games and crap is just stupid.

I agree, while I think the achievements were an excellent idea - the leveling system has to change or be removed.

If they really want to level up I say just award everything to them and this non-sense game leveling will stop.

I completely agree with Timinator's idea, simply yet effective.

Wouldn't it be possible to reduce points by 50% for maps with 40 or less territories (avoiding roulette games for up to 40 player FFA's), and by 90% for maps with 10 or less territories? I'm sure that can be easily coded.

Of course, it would be better if there were 40 or less territories taken and 10 or loss territories taken rather than the size of the map (think about it - custom scenario's on big maps can create duel-like circumstances.)

It wouldn't help. All the duel players would do is find a map that has a distribution that has neighboring start locations, set the neutrals super high, and they can do the same thing on a bigger map.

Another idea is to diminish points if the game doesn't last more than a few turns. This doesn't work either, since you could design a scenario like Duel, but where it takes a few turns to finish the game. It also opens the door for trolls who surrender on turn 1 when they don't like their spots just to frustrate their opponents.

How about diminishing points when kill rates are overridden? The whole idea behind the duel map doesn't work in normal kill rates, since it turns into a stalemate where the first player who attacks loses.

I still don't know why we care about farming really. I would almost prefer it myself. It means less people creating %75 luck games without advanced settings. Or at least I hope.

That being said, it would still be nice to have features that ONLY members will be able to do, regardless of how many points/levels you attain.
