It seems like a lot of players are getting pissed off about ads

i just played a team game today where a player just decided to quit due to the ads: http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=4600098

I explained that Fizzer needs to make money from the site, but he quitted anyway.

I think WL might lose a few players to ads... :(

I think these ads could've been much worse. I've had on pop-up add so far and that one was very annoying, but the rest is not to bad.

Also Fizzer mentioned he would be toying with different ads, trying to make them as unobtrusive as he can.

something has been changed already - i did not change the settings yet, but the ads disappeared for me anyway...

Fact you're a member made it i believe, anyhow I was close to getting booted by a fucking add that popped up at 25seconds from the boot, 10sec' adds, so 15 seconds to make my move wasnt the best situation, those adds should exists, especially in real time game....

I agree, full page ads need to be removed from real time games, at the very least not pop up until you have completed your move.

As a member I would appreciate if there were a way to opt out of the ads. I never really realized how much I appreciated WL as an add-free space until now.

Members can disable ads, it's the very last option on the settings page.

I think the ads are good. The Nazi establishment I work at blocks all popups with a firewall donated by the Chinese government, so I don't see those. But the other ads are well placed and sized (using Chrome). The ads even know what I want when I want it! I was hungry and it showed me an ad for food. After I ate I was thirsty and it showed me an ad for beer. The beer made me horny and it showed me an ad for online dating in one game and porn in another. After arranging a date with a girl for XXX I needed a ride to the rendez-vous and saw an ad for a car. Thanks Fizzer! My day has been enhanced! I leveled up in real life! 35,000 points today!

The fizzer picks one that take up your whole screen could quite easily boot a lot of players since they have to wait 15 seconds to close it.I don't mind the ads and i prefer the ones that i can close and then turns into the arrows.

Also wouldn't it be cool if clicked on an ad and that one disappeared after clicking on it, i am sure your clients will appreciate the extra hits and oit would have done it's job as a ad and not be necessary to see it again.Perhaps a limit per level on how many you can make disappear based on level and the day.

That's awesome that we have the option to opt out. It's funny, now I find myself considering opting IN so the website can make more money off of me!

I'm glad they built that feature in. This might have marked the end of my WL career.

Everyone remember that at the end of the day achievements don't really matter if you just like to play, lol, I'm fine with getting less points because of using an adblocker because my level or point count in the game doesn't magically indicate my proficiency at it.
