There is no setting to turn it off

But someone probably made a userscript that hides them?

easy. Log in to your idle, fill them, then reload chat.

Done.

Just make it clan policy that you will mute any member who makes Idle requests in clan chat (0-second timeout, which unfortunately deletes all other visible messages too). And on the second or third offense, kick them from the clan.

It's about compromise. Just think of how we use it in language. The verb form has a healthy connotation- we compromise to get things done. The noun form- a compromise- is more of a mixed bag: the pizza restaurant we went to, that no one really wanted, was a compromise. And then you have the truly nasty adjectival form- cross one too many lines and, like a turncoat spy or corrupt leader, you will find yourself compromised. It's a clear line: you should compromise, but overdo it and the product will be a "compromise," and if you really lean into it then you, too, will become compromised.

It's clear where Idle requests in Clan Chat fall on this spectrum. Don't become compromised.

Kenghis Khan tried to enforce that policy in Fahrenheit. Ask him how it turned out.

I've enforced this policy in a number of clans. In my experience, it turns out great.

Pro tip: Be in a clan where idle is so unpopular that you will never see an idle request. I am following this approach.

yeah those clans tend to be high-barrier-to-entry

Ive tried to make a userscript which hides certain automatic posts in the past. It is possible but completely breaks the chat layout (lots of empty space because of absolute positioning).
To implement it, you’re best off making a new chat and hiding the current one. Fill the new chat by using the arrive.js script. Also I have not idea how to know if there was a timeout so can’t delete chat in the new chat
