I have spent a long time digging in the settings of the Android App and don't see how I'd switch them off. Can anybody help?

From the website, go to settings on the top tab, then at the bottom there is a toggle advertisements option, click it and you can choose which ads you see.

Go to settings.
Go to toggle advertisements.
Click the one that says "Mobile ads."
Be done with it.
