Now that I have some useful artifacts--several useful ones at "Rare", and have more correctly used my Advancement points--the expansion of mercenaries being the biggest changeup--I am past that early hurdle of running out of mercenaries (and army caches) too quickly and can finish levels more efficiently. Now I need some next level tips.

So sure, fog buster makes sense if you have it, and zeroing in hospitals, and maxing them first also makes sense. But how? I don't always have fog buster. I don't have the levels memorized or saved. Some hospitals are so far away, you can't get to them without going through a bunch of expensive territories. And you need Markets for the serious money to upgrade the hospitals quickly. So on a practical level you have to balance these competing demands.

Sure, hospitals are awesome, but you gotta get to them--and Markets are SO helpful for raising serious cash, that I guess it is a one-two punch--get the markets, then you can buy the mercs to get hospitals and still have the cash to upgrade? That's more or less what I've been doing.

There are defogging options in the Advancement sections--first mines, smelts, markets. So those are worthy uses of AP, I guess, for the fog busting element alone?

Well, the important question here is, how many spoilers do you want?

Eg. there are commonly available maps that will show you where all the markets/hospitals are,
there is somewhat comprehensive level data floating around amongst the people who know,
and there is a lot of generic advice, some good, some bad out there.

For myself, I always suggest maximum spoilage, but I may be very very wrong re total enjoyment.

Yeah if you know where the hospitals, markets and merc camps are then you can do two hour ‘waves’ where you grab a few merc camps and use these to get to a few hospitals and maybe a market. Then you upgrade hospitals, wait two hours and repeat.

When your upgrades are sufficiently high, these ‘waves’ can grab several or even all the hospitals. This will to push level completion time down from 8 hours to 6 hours to 4 hours to minutes. You’ll get there on your second ascension with a good memory or on first ascension with access to a good resource. It’s up to you if you want to use this.
