I was wondering when the first thread about teams in coin ffa's show up :)

Since you can get a positive earning even if you join the 4 player ffa as a team of 3 coin game ffa's don't work.

couldn't you just send a message with a link in to the specific game, through the player mail system, outside the game

Yes it is, though as the comment above me points out, the mail system makes the matter moot.

actually, the 2 players being mentioned here are from the same clan and from the same country, so they probably have other means to interact than wl

Not really. In a RT game you may not notice someone sending you mail in time. To use that you'd have to be colluding from the outset.

The fact that the is Private Messaging at all makes it seem that collusion is encouraged.

Not only the same clan/country, but the same join date. Not to mention Anthony surrendering to GoDL1k3 even though he was way ahead.

that's obviously damning. but what if they had happened to meet in the game and used the Private Messaging to throw the game. is that against the rules?

that would eb slightly different as they would probably both be trying to win, but use an allaince as the best mneans to eliminate the rest of the opponents and then deal with their ally. that si not the case here

This will probably keep happening sadly. People will make double accounts to get the win and now with money involved...well.
