Depends on who he is, and what was said prior. Normally I make the 1 warning agreement at the inception of the alliance.

Try to arrange a plan before your opponents surrender, and don't wait until you've got no time before getting booted to go play your turn. A little communication, especially on the turns leading up to surrender, can fix most any problems.
Any other situation will find you making the wrong choice from time to time. There's no perfect answer here, because some people are oblivious and making a nonsense turn, and some people are going cutthroat as soon as they see the other player surrender.
Also, if they are normally fairly talkative and they stop being talkative when the alliance might be over, send them a message to that effect, give them some time to see it, then attack even if they don't respond.

If the other player accepts the surrender, it's same to assume that they realize only the two of us are left. I would probably send them a message and wait until the boot before attacking. I think a better dilemma would be if this happened in a game with automatic surrendering.

General Mac BACKSTABBED ME IN A season X 4 player FFA. He accepted the players surrender and it was just me and him and the turn he accept the players surrender he ATTACKS me with no notice (we were allies) just so he could win the game.

I agree with duke of Ben.It's always best to go with b as it builds up trust with that player for example: i once had a chance to backstab a player however i didn't later i proceed to play several more ffas with the same player and the trust i gained helped me and him in the later games.

Well I personally attempt to not make truces with players I know will backstab me (General mac, General Arun, etc.) I think relationships with other players on warlight are worth more than winning a game or even a tournament. A thing you can do is to deploy behind the lines and move up the troops when the truce is over. I always give at least one turn to my opponent before I break the truce.

i dont usually play FFAs, especially not recently, but when i used to, i always made truces and alliances.
If its a large FFA game, i think making truces/alliances with most of your neighbours is a must.
If its a small FFA game, i contact all the players and try to puppet them to my advantage.
And yeah, i backstab people. After all, you play to win, not to make your opponents happy.

I'd stack armies on the border but not attack, and send a private message saying I attack next turn.

I am sorry but that title belongs to you general mac or general arun, i avoid as much as possible allying with you or general arun(why is it always the generals) because you guys are the kings of doing what you want to win.Now if i was to ask for example of when i did this you will probably bring that one mistake i did once in THE EUROPE MAP BY OTTAMAN BUT BESIDES THAT YOU GOT NOTHING.Sorry about caps too lazy to rewrite normally.
