There's been a lot of talk about people using unusual settings to gain wins and level up from people who either don't bother to read the settings or don't understand them. While I always check the settings of the games I join, I think Warlight could benefit from an icon next to the game name in the 'multi player' and 'open games' tab, marking very clearly that there are highlighted settings in the game (e.g overridden bonuses and different kill-rates).

I was going to submit this to uservoice, but I've decided it might be best to discuss this in the forum first since it seems to be a hot topic?

Also as a disclaimer - I haven't read though all the recent forum posts so this problem may already have a better solution that I don't know about.

Most people aren't tricked by these games. We check settings often and see what's going on.

It is stupid not to check the settings before joining any game our tournament.

In my opinion, the overall game intelligence of people on Warlight is VERY low. I can't tell you how many times I have said something like "why %75 luck on this format?" only to have everyone say "what is luck?". I mean seriously, you have never saw that in the settings and clicked the link to the wiki? All people do is see the tip that says attack with twice the defender, and they never bother to develop any skill whatsoever. Maybe that will change with more people unlocking other settings (maybe they will actually pay attention?), but I don't know. I think if the single player mode was a little more robust, with some more of these options, maybe people would actually learn them partially.

IIRC something similar was already proposed(/implemented?) a long time ago.
(and it s not for the farming-games, i assume most people recognize them already nowadays)

I'm just looking for a solution to all these farming games - they really frustrate me.

I personally check the settings of any game I join, but I've been looking for a reason why these games actually work for the 'farmers'. The only explanation I've found is misunderstanding of the settings.

Please tell me if there is something I'm missing...

well you can't lose points, so even if you win only 50% (which you will on PvN, etc) of the games you`ll get a lot of points. and that`s why it works.

All my points are from existing games or Strat 1v1. Call me old fashioned...
