I am interested in making maps (Fake maps, but do look very realistic I have practiced drawing made-up maps and they look just like real maps and look forward to making maps in WarLight) because I am interested in map making in Warlight, but I want it to be diplo and next I want to know what hte people look forward to such as small maps, big maps, small territories, colorful, and balanced etc. any help would be useful! I am getting used to inkscape and using Warlights wiki guide and I don't feel it gives me al the details necessary such as making territories that are seperated, but still connected a good example of maps that do this is canada and british islands such as scotland and nunuvat.

Connections are not done in Inkscape but in the Warlight map editor. Or do you mean territories that contain islands? Those can be made by merging multiple paths, simply select both and press CTRL+SHIFT+=.

Ahh I see other then that I would be fine to go and try testing maps just the drawing feature is a little akward I gotta get used to drawing with a low sensitivity and be able to not make akward curves or rectangles.

I made my two maps based on other games I have played in the past (Succession Wars board game and Diablo 3). So I already had some interest in those fake areas. People have used movies and shows for inspiration as well.

I hate hexagonal worlds except when games try to cover it up and make it more realistic looking like Civilization V and War Commander then it looks reasonably fun for me.

i generally prefer maps with small value bonuses instead of large value ones, much more exciting and strategic.
it also depends what type of gameplay you want your map to be used,
if you want to make an ffa map, obviously a large one with over 400 territories.
Some of the most popular ffa maps also have individual territory bonuses (every territory gives you armies)
The popular ffa maps are also either real world maps, or maps based on a movie (Europe and land of ice and fire), so making a map on your imaginary world world may not be very popular.
another personal preference, but i dont like Mega/super bonuses, and imo a good ffa map shouldnt have those big bonuses.
and like ironheart said, i do enjoy playing Europe maps more, no idea why really.
