So I thought we were done getting new games for Season X, since almost all of us had our twelve games. Sometime today I got a new games as part of the season. I checked, and I do now have 13 games. I checked a number of other players, and saw that quite a few had additional games added (every one I checked had an extra game).

Is this a bug? Was the original "12 games" wrong in the blog post?

It tries to give everyone a minimum of 12 games. If someone else joined late (or left the ladder for a while), they could still be under 12. Therefore, it needs to create games to get them up to 12.

It tries to match up everyone who's under 12 with each other, but if there's only, say, 3 people under 12, it can't create a game with 3 people. In that case, it'll grab someone who has 12 to fill the last spot and bump them to 13 so that the people under 12 can get a game.

Getting a 13th game isn't an advantage or a disadvantage. It just gives the algorithm more data to work with.

I just got a 14th game. Seems kind of strange to be starting a new game this late in the season.

I agree. There will certainly be tweaks if we do an FFA season again.

i loved the idea of na ffa season (I even joined knowing in advance i would probably get booted from most games, as happened) but you really need to change some things

Yeah, I have 14 games now too.

I now also have 14 game, with one created just a bit ago. Figure a day for everyone to join and there is 12 days left to with two of them not being ranked my rating could get destroyed by this game if we barely get to play.
