I cannot change people's opinions, and I will not break off a friendship just because someone is racist. I mean, a lot of very funny jokes are racist. Everyone is racist at some point in their lives.

There's racism, then there's 'racism'. Real racism is the actual thought that other human beings are worth less simply because of the color of their skin, or hair, or their gender, or some other meaningless factor.

'Racism' is an overused boy-who-cried-wolf term that is closer to stereotyping than actual racism, and it's so politically charged that it only exists against certain favored minorities.

Having a friend who is actually racist, or actually homophobic, is going to reflect very strongly on you.

There's nothing wrong with homosexual living, but allow me to make an analogy : If you wouldn't want the Republican party to indoctrinate your children, why would you let a homosexual say it's right? And vice versa with Democrats and heterosexuals. Rather, we should simply embrace that we are living how we want to live on terms equal to our different-minded counterparts.
