You guys are still thinking in last century's terms of better and worse. krinid has brought it to the point: we should stop comparing or ranking people into who is better, nicer, more worthy, etc. Give everyone the first place as we are all uncomparable individuals! And increase the rewards, too.
I think what we do here is go full communism, as an entire playerbase we must reach a certain number of territories, at which every participating player a lifetime membership, 10,000 coins, 5 of every idle powerup and an insane artifact. Of course this is a conservative ask and we should get more, but I will not be the one to do that.
oh well, as expected. Mostly the usual suspects. Mostly the usual lame attempts at ridicule. But nevertheless 2 nice surprises so far: 1. much fewer downvotes than usual - come on guys, are you getting lazy or what? 2. Kallisti's posts. Very much to the point! I will take them up in a minute.
Since you have been so good to me, I try to switch to a more conciliatory note. For a bit at least. And sketch out my ideas what a more equitable ( not equal, not "communist") CW reward structure could look like.
Before i do so, let me also respond to a few of your remarks:

@Texx "That would require him to actually win a game properly ..." all FTW players have achieved at least 1 regular win, most have more. Unfortunately, some of those wins took a lot more time and effort than what should be spent in light of the rather puny CW rewards we got.
@Kallisti - like your 2 posts: "CW is competitive. That is the problem. Make the difference between the top and bottom places small, people won't try that hard. Make the difference big, bottom rewards will be too small. Either give individual rewards or drop rewards for ranking."

My opinion: CW being competitive is perfectly fine, it should be. It is a competition between clans. Like any sports competition. Except the playing field is not level. Far from it. And difference in rewards between top and lower ranks is way too big.
Matchmaking should not be based on clan CW rating, but on player's qm rating for the respective template. Might get back at this subject in one of my next rants.
CW rank reward structure (not looking at idle boosts and territory rewards for a moment), just looking at coins: currently each season has a total payout of 42,000 coins, distributed only to top 9 clans (15k, 10k, 3x 3k, 4x 2k coins), equally distributed among players in each of these clans.
My suggestion would be along the following lines: * Half of the coins (21k per season) to be distributed on clans ranked 1-30 (= roughly around half the number of clans typically participating in CW). Additional prerequisite: at least 1 regular win in that season Clan rank determined as is - by number of territories won, then number of total wins, then number of regular wins Distribution among clans using a progressive distribution scale, but less aggressive than current scheme. E.g. since i like skiing, using sth like the FIS worldcup point structure: 100 80 60 50 45 40 36 32 29 26 24 22 20 18 16 15 14 13 12 11 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1
so, a total of 718 points for ranks 1-30. 21.000 coins divided by 718 would yield (rounded up a bit) 30 coins per point. So 3000 coins for rank 1 clan.
* second half of coin pool 42k / 2 = 12k - distributed to participating players in top 30 ranked clans according to number of their regular wins in that season.
so 22.000 divided by total number of regular wins in season (e.g. ins season 27: 2327 regular wins in total) = coins/regular win (season 27 would be around 5,15 coins/win. Those coins would only go to players who got at least 1 regular win. In season 27 332 regular wins for winning clan Mythbusters would total 1712 coins - in addition to the 3,000 coins for rank 1.
Yes, far less than 15k. BUT in my opinion still very attractive to top ranked clans and way MORE attractive and fair for smaller, lower ranked clans. Everything strictly merit based, nothing "communist" about it.
Sharing wealth more evenly? COMMUNISM!!!!!!!! (in all seriousness I appreciate your well thought out idea and effort you have put into this, using much more of your precious time than declining tourneys)
Idle boosts should also be tweaked: forget about the ridiculous free cache power. It's pretty much worthless. Give each of the players with at least 1 regular win in all participating clans (including those in clans ranked lower than 30, if any) a Time Warp power instead or even better an Inspire Mercs power. As BASE REWARD for the effort to participate in CW.
Plus * 1 uncommon artefact for players with at least 1 regular win in clans ranked 10-30 * 2 uncommon artefacts for players with at least 1 regular win in clans ranked 6-10 * 2 uncommon artis plus 2 extra TW powers (=total of 3) for players with at least 1 regular win in clans ranked 3-5 * same as is for players with regular wins in clans ranked #1 and 2
Not a lot of additional rewards in total, but much more attractive for players in mid-tier and smaller, "non-elite" clans. And still mighty attractive to go for top spots.
my ideas as presented are still rather rough ofc. Feel free to improve on them. There are folks around with much better math/stats skills and willingness to spend time on such schemes (yes, looking at you 5smith!, but also others).

Make rewards more even, top clans will put less effort to be top.
QM rating is a nice idea, but many players don't play QM. Or better. QM rating rises very slowly, so many players don't play QM enough to have an accurate rating.
