I fire Money and JK_3 to quell the somewhat hostile, somewhat affable, takeover of Grover's Cafe.
I've contacted my rules lawyer who informed me that my action is permissible in this thread and submit the following brief in support:
Now comes Mr. D. Grover with a case of the utmost importance. The matter in question being: May a WZ Player posting in this thread entitled: "Continuing the hire or fire thread again" hire or fire whomever he/she chooses without regards to the player who posted the previous comment?
My client Mr. Grover believes the answer to be "Hell yeah, dude."
Facts and Travel I
On or about December 29th, 2020, WZ Player Hi created a thread titled: "Hire or fire?"
https://www.warzone.com/Forum/517234-hire-fire?Offset=0 In this first post Hi stated:
"Hire or fire the player above you, if you get hired 3 times in a row you win! No double posting and please downvote any post that breaks this threads rules"
That thread continued for the next 18 months ending on its 508th post.
Almost 3 full months later (September 15, 2022) another WZ Player whose account has since been deleted created a thread titled: "continuing the hire or fire thread for no reason".
https://www.warzone.com/Forum/645842-continuing-hire-fire-thread-reason?Offset=0 That thread ended in February of this year (2023) on its 115th post.
More than a month later (March 19th, 2023) another player whose account has since been deleted created a thread titled: "Continuing the hire or fire thread again"
https://www.warzone.com/Forum/681389-continuing-hire-fire-thread-again Argument II
A) The rules of the last thread were never specifically stated in this thread as being carried over, nor were they specifically stated in the thread titled "continuing the hire or fire thread for no reason". In order for the original thread rules to apply to this thread, they must be stated as such. It is a well known and understood rule of statutory construction that the law shall not be construed to apply in ways not specifically stated. It is a well know and understood convention of WZ as well as gaming in general that the rules of one game shall not be construed to apply to others unless specifically stated. These threads, being an extension of a board game, obviously fall under these conventions.
B) When this thread was created (as well as the thread created on 9/15/22), there was no specific reference, such as a link, to the original Hire or Fire thread. Despite the word "Continuing" being used in the title, WZ Player Hi was not the originator of this thread nor was there a link Mr. Hi's original thread. Mr. Hi has never publicly endorsed either thread which claim to continue his original thread, and both WZ accounts originating the alleged continuing threads have been deleted and have not responded to subpoenas.
Conclusion III
It is obvious that the rules of statutory construction and well known gaming conventions apply to this case. The precedent that would be set from an opposing decision on this matter would result in such an eruption of chaos in the WZ Off-Topic Forum that it could tear apart the very fabric of society. To call either of the threads claiming to be a continuation of Mr. Hi's original thread is utterly preposterous. There is no evidence that they are anything more than unsanctioned counterfeit of Mr. Hi's venerated treasure of literary comedy.
It is for these reasons that I trust that your honor will decide in favor of my clients action.
Sincerely,
Oscar T. Grouch esq.
