Warzone Newsletter #15A recap of interesting stuff of January 2024. We got it over into the new year!
Clan Wars Season 41 ended – MB wonYep. Just as usual, Myth Busters won the season. Congrats.
With most competitive members of 101st going to Harmony, they quickly fell off the top-5, and clan The Last Alliance got back to top-5.
I would say, quite a boring season.
Season 42 started with some interesting stuff.
First, the CW map for the season was selected Draconia. Draconia is a very fresh map, which is dedicated to Myth Busters. It is actually surprising, that this exact map got promoted to CW map. It is a good high quality map, but so far Fizzer usually preferred classic old 5+ year old maps. (up to a point, that he used a few maps multiple times) Does that map selection mean a statement to CW community? Maybe....
At least the new map is just 254 territories big, so we are back to 3 (or maybe even less) week long seasons.
Second, right after the season started, Optimum made a few transfers to their CW roster. As there were literally no transfers before the season, my bet is that it was to make a surprise push this season. A bunch of old skilled players in Optimum also returned to active CW participation.
Yet, some of the transfers were definitely not of the skill level, which is required to compete with Myth Busters. So it is a push, but probably just back to top-2. Now we are 10 days into the new season, and Optimum is definitely not going to take top-1, they have a strong top-2 position, but can lose it, if they start slacking in the second half of the season.
Interesting, that some of the Optimum newcomers are the same from the previous season's 101st-Harmony transfer. And they also happen to among the guys, which were long ago poached from KC during the VERAVARI's "merge with Mothership" initiative, but then jumped to 101st. I guess, after changing ~5 clans, they finally will make it to the top-2 this season. What a CW career!

Nation Cup is finally overWho won Nation's cup? - The official quote: "The winning team is Great Britain, the runners-up are France and for the third place there's a tie between Poland and USA. Congratulations!"
Who are the winning players exactly? - Honestly, I don't know. There is a spreadsheet with all the players and teams, but I am not sure if team "Great Britain" means a specific team of 6 players from GB, or all of the GB teams, or it is a more like a "nation-kind idea". So I just put a link, and you figure it out yourself. (Or the benevolent LND will come and save us all by actually explaining what happened in NC sportwise.)
A few final events of the Cup:
- Till the latest moment, it was not decided whether a round 6 is needed to determine the NC winners, because either the rules or interpretations of those were so vague. There was a poll at some point, yet I am not sure, if it was actually taken into consideration.
- Marcus Aurelius, after previously returning to managing, left the management once again. After the round was over, he literally quit the discord server without any farewell, leaving it all to second-in-command Rento to deal with.
- After the "huge success" of this Nation's Cup, it is announced that it was decided to turn this bi-yearly event into a yearly one.
Initially I praised the event when it started: it was really hyped, had cool forum and streamed coverage. But after it is over, my opinion has changed a lot. I am sure, that some of the participants still liked it. Yet from an outsider's point of view the even degraded rapidly: no coverage of the latest rounds, lots of unnecessary "evil-like" drama, constant changes of rules, high level of toxicity, etc... If you followed the event, what do you think?

CW Contests (better than raffle)A new cool event is happening on the forums. Cicero_ decided to regularly host various contests related to Clan Wars. The winners get coin prizes :D This season contests had ~1 k coins at stake.
I like this initiative, which seems really fun and advise everyone, who is more or less engaged in the Clan Wars to check the thread.

Clan League 17 games have startedIt is basically all in the title. The games are on. Also, the corresponding CL divisions threads were created, so it might be interesting to check those out.
That's all. Thank you for reading. Please comment, like and subscribe, or cover any events, that I might have missed.
