@bliss machine
don't agree to the length of the game if you don't want to play that length
- I'm keep hearing this same line from people don't know much about diplo games. Everyone has their own preferences but in order for 40 player, play the same game, all players has to more or less have to sacrifice their preferences in order to play a game together.
- So no, your advice basically says to stop playing diplo games (this doesn't effect RT since they don't last for months anyway). You don't solve problems by discouraging players from playing. Unfortunately, there is not much Girkel can do. If you are already winning the game, let him do his thing and enjoy destroying all of his territories one by one, kill him slowly, kill him painfully :)
@vera you are misinterpreting this. they were referring to a
CLASSIC game.
That said, I do support that if you can't keep up with the boot timer DONT PLAY THE DIPLO. (There are sometimes some valid exceptions, obviously. Like an ally refusing to respond or negotiations being severely delayed for whatever reason, I've had an "ally" refuse to respond to a request for a loan to fight a war) I've had that situation before. Even if you're at war with the player. They couldn't keep up with the boot timer, too bad for them you get all their stuff, or something depending on the rules. But host booting rule is ofc better, since it is necessary to be neutral.
(Which is why I don't like diplos, but that's too far off topic liao lol)
people in diplos don't boot automatically and extend the boot timer?
Yeah diplos turn off autoboot.
And as for classic, yeah delaying is bad, blocklist and just whenever the turn moves, play it. If it delays anyhting, it can't be your fault, so don't worry.
